I discovered Buffy Sainte-Marie through Indigo Girls who sing 'Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee' ... Since, I've read a lot and not only the 1973 occupation of the historic site of the slaughter.
What a woman ... What a musician ... What a performer ... What an activist ... What a composer ... Part of North-America history now ...

Been listening to Buffy since in 1972...high school days! She was my very best education and because of her I volunteered for the Chicago AIM office....collected food during the Pine Ridge holdup and gave my babysitting money to the Pine Ridge nation, for which they gave me a newsletter for quite a while. Her work speaks right to my heart. She has helped me grow in consciousness. Thank you Buffy....girl from Chicago

Wow. I first turned on to Buffy as a little kid when I performed my first song in front of my 4th grade classmates. It was 'Needles and Pins' which I learned from a Searcher's 45. I'm so glad to see her, radiant, 58 years later. What a great songwriter and person. I feel like I know her personally.

Her songs hit different now that know that she is Italian and not an Indian. I now look at it as a theatrical performance. That is what it really is.
