In Bandersnatch, viewers make decisions for the main character, the young programmer Stefan Butler  who is adapting a fantasy choose-your-own-adventure novel into a video game in 1984.  The film is based on a planned Imagine Software video game of the same name which went unreleased after the company filed for bankruptcy. It also alludes to Lewis Carroll's own works that feature the bandersnatch creature. A piece of science fiction and horror, Bandersnatch incorporates meta-commentary and rumination on free will.

Bandersnatch is presented as an interactive film. A brief tutorial, specific to the device being streamed on, explains to the viewer how to make choices. They have ten seconds to make choices, or a default decision is made. Once a playthrough ends, the viewer is given an option of going back and making a different choice. The average viewing is 90 minutes, though the quickest path ends after 40 minutes. There are 150 minutes of unique footage divided into 250 segments.

Can you please do an analysis on Bohemian Rhapsody? The editing is absolutely bonkers, it's making the rounds in the edit community how bad it is.

This is a good one. Watching is movie is like watching one of the good Tell Tale video games (They got Walkind Dead, Borderlands, Batman, even Game of Thrones). Yet I would argue this movie only scratches the surface of what those games are able to accomplish. And even then they don’t compare to a lot of the video games that are truly dedicated to the concept of choose-your-own-adventure. It certainly is nice thought that Bandersnatch is a movie first and a game second. An interpretation that if someone where to go further with this they would truly blur the line between video game and movie at that point.

Since we are talking about interactive films, I suggest Words Hurt (2016, by Romain Chassaing). It is an incredibly dynamic and engaging short film. It grabbed my attention way much more than Bandersnatch, especially because of the variety of choices and plot twists I ended up with, and there is a lot of great scenes in it as well. The film is available on My French Film Festival website until February 18th. Here's the link https://www.myfrenchfilmfestival.com/pt/movie?movie=47160

Hey Sven I have a serious question for you. Due to the up rise of automation, in your opinion do you think editors can be automated ? Which would leave people like you and me and countless others joblessness. I do hope you answer back. Thank you

Love this! I recently did a brief scene analysis on how to replicate the acid scene. Definitely more interested in dissecting things like you in the future! Keep it up

Man... That fight scene just hurts my eyes... It did so when I saw it in Bandersnatch the first time and even more so when seen in clips... Whoever thought that strapping the camera onto a jackhammer was a good idea... I mean... I would not want to meet that person in real life.

Using sound like that ruins films constantly, foley engineers need to get back to reality and stop influencing itself, this is a classic example of people looking at someones unrealistic sound production and wanting to copy it and in doing so drag viewers out of the immersion they want to be in. Make good films, with realistic effects.
