A mod which include the illumination and colours from beta version, the swords on the screen would be an amazing add-on for the PC version.

Didn't think initially that I would watch it until the end, but this was so engaging to watch.. also it's a great retrospective overall on Soul Reaver 2, and gave me yet another chance to appreciate the beautiful locations & visuals, and narrative of the story once more..

I remember playing the demo of the air forge back in the days and I have searched for that build since then, really cool it's been found, although the gameplay video on the demo disc I got with my PS2 back then (it had Devil May Cry and Jak & Daxter on there as well) had some more differences to the beta build that's been found. Like its really minor but for example the barriers that spawn when you get attacked by those cyborg alien looking monster has no lazer effects and also some thralls are present on the road after you get out of the castle in the beginning. So I must believe there's even a older build out there. And in the dark forge there are also statues seen in the demo video which also aren't present in this build.
I play the whole franchise back to back each year and they never get dull.

Fascinating stuff! SR2 is my favorite in the series, and I've played it dozens of times over. That Sean Connery placeholder was a real gem. Kind of bummer they got rid of the female vampire's execution in the beginning. I feel like that would have added to the atmosphere of dread, and brought more urgency upon seeing all those impaled corpses. I figured those vampires were long dead, but having more than just Kain and Vorador knocking around creates a greater sense of personal responsibility.
Sidenote, sorry for going off topic. Lately, my PS2 retail version of the game has softlocked itself during the air forge, so I'm pretty disappointed. The final mouth, after activation, re-shuts itself so I can't float to the top. Janos' aerie is my favorite segment, and it's very frustrating not to be able to experience it. I wonder if any of you guys have encountered this issue? It's so strange that this happens, because I've completed the game on that same disk many times before. I have also experienced the dark forge door glitch on that same disk, and now know how to avoid the problem. But this one has me stumped.
