I personally do not think it matters to your audience whether you have successful games or not. You can clearly tell that you have a professional mindset, and a very unique way of teaching and creating art, that will definitely lead your students to success. You already have a few people who have been making 6 figures based on your help, and your vision. Your games success does not dictate your teaching anymore because your teaching is high tier.

I released my first game, self published a week ago on Steam. In the last few days though, several publishers have contacted me about releasing a Switch version. Since my game is made in Godot, I can't self publish on Consoles. It feels overwhelming and its hard to know which one would be best(and not scam me).
Hearing you talk about the positives of working with publishers makes me feel more at ease. I know I should just email them all back and ask what their terms are and compare. I guess I'm just procrastinating.

It sounds like you have your priorities in a good spot. I got very overwhelmed with my music production with just socials, practice, editing, mixing, mastering, and the list goes on. Building a foundation for any business is not easy and I believe in time, you are going to grow a great business and it’s going to become massive.

I am also aiming to become an indie developer (though i dont have any major reasons to not want a publisher i do have a few things holding me back from wanting to get one.
1. IP control, due to the scope of the game and the nature of its story i cant just willingly give up any form of IP control
2. My own innate struggles aa being someone on the spectrum make it incredibly difficult for me to properly communicate with others, along with a traumatic past make me very hesitant to trust others or accept help
3. The subject matter of the games i wish to make often cover said subhect matter of traumatic experiences and the Effects of trauama and i highly doubt any major publisher would take a risk with such a game
4. Creative control, i am unwilling (and i acknowledge that this is a problem trait) to give up creative control and influence over my work because i am a firm believer in that the subject matters my Narratives cover need to be given depth and care to avoid making an empty product

i remember watching you live stream Father back when it was just a low poly shooter and you were streaming while fixing the bullet impact normals. ive seen you change the concept, grow the team and grow as a developer. not youtuber or business man but dev as well. I feel like your pivot was in response to other games like choo choo Charles, the marketplace, and a lot of other things and you found a way to make your game adapt to these influences instead of just hoping for the best. I feel like i get more out of watching what you do then what you say. you are truly an inspiration
