I'm on the crafty/yarntok/small business side of TikTok and from what I've heard from small business owners is that TikTok Shop isn't very small business friendly. The turn around time is 3 days to ship out an order so any small business that makes their items to order has to be able to produce and ship the items in that time frame. I haven't heard anything about small business owners losing money through the shop but I have heard of some small businesses going viral from someone else promoting their products. My only concern with that is how virality tends to come in a huge wave and then immediately disappear. So small businesses may be hit with literally thousands of orders in the space of about a month before suddenly grinding to a stop. Something like that can break a business. Overall, it seems like the ideal business to sell in TikTok Shop are dropshippers because of the turn around time and ever changing fads that would tear most small businesses apart.

Shopping in our society is a much more acceptable addiction.

I'm worried about making consumer culture so easy. Tik tok has such a young audience, allowing for such little thought to go into a purchase gives me anxiety. Two taps to make a purchase allows for thoughtless consummerism at the high speed that tik tok is promoting in general. This is so bad for our society and planet.
