My grandmother had a cabin in southern Michigan near the town of Dowagiac. She lived by a body of water called dewey lake and it was pretty much paradise. Itâs quiet peaceful and serene. But one night my grandmother called me in a frightened state. I had been spending the weekend at a resort down the road with my girlfriend, so I was very close by. She explained in a panicked voice that a bear had been trying to break down her door and she was scared. Me and my buddies immediately drove over with some shotguns and we expected to see a black bear or something digging in our trash, and we knew we could probably just yell at it or honk the car horn to get it to run away. We showed up but there wasnât anything there. The door frame was damaged and it certainly looked like claw marks. But what I found interesting was that the trash cans where completely untouched. Whatever it was had lost interest and left. My grandmother was fine, just a bit shook. She said it was a black bear and she had seen it through the windows. She also noted it was walking on two legs and was âquick as the devilâ Itâs not too crazy of a story, but something didnât sit well with me, a black bear being fast on two legs. My grandmother would develop memory problems later in her life, but at this point her mind was still pretty sharp. We believed her. Just one problem. There are no bears in Dowagiac Michigan. There havenât been bears in that town in over 150 years. Another point, I donât think my grandmother had ever seen a bear outside of a couple visits to the zoo. I wouldnât rely on her for identifying animals at night. I donât know what my grandmother saw, but I donât think it was a bear. Oh, and guess what, Dewey lake also has a dog man legend. I donât know if I believe it. But I donât laugh away those stories the same way I used too.

About a decade ago, we had a family get together in this exact place. Camped there and everything. I recall this one area on the campground gave me a bad feeling the first day we were there, so I avoided it on my walk. The next day, we went out on a pontoon boat and brought some jet skis. The place felt real weird at first, but once we got going and to a different area it seemed to relax. Still kind of lingered though and I felt that we were being watched, either by campers beyond the trees or something, at several points. Never knew about the dog men until just this year... Needless to say Iâd be much more freaked out back then if Iâd known the stories at the time.

I kind of love the mom in the one story. She comes home to find the kids terrified and hiding under a bed, her son is bleeding and her niece is armed with the kitchen knives. They tell her the story and her response is, âWelp, gonna check this out,â apparently without a thought for her own safety. No wonder the cryptid fledâthatâs Mama Bear energy.

Wonderful story, as always. My family's from Kentucky and I spent 8 summers, during my teens, with grandparents who had retired to Lake Cumberland near the town of Monticello. That whole region of southern KY is full of strangeness. I had an experience with a blinding light thru a bedroom window one night. Out in the middle of nowhere. There was no sound associated with it. There were approximately 5-7 houses on that road then and only two families that lived there full time. The town of Hellier is east of Monticello and Monticello is east of the Land between the Lakes. That entire region sits a top the Mammoth Cave system which has vast amounts of quartz crystal.

My family has had a house on the shores of one of the lakes since the 70s, and I spent a huge amount of time in my childhood on the lakes and the land between. This is my first time hearing about any of these stories, but I will say there is an atmosphere in the unsettled woods. I have never felt it to be malevolent or oppressive in any way, but I guess that's good because whatever it is had hundreds of unsupervised hours with me and left me untouched. My family still visits a few times a year, so I will keep my eyes peeled and report anything interesting back.

I love how sparingly you use animations in this series. The motorhome door opening and closing after 12:45 was creepy as hell! The storyline will likely have me leaving the lights on after I go to bed (and I live in New York City!).

Still another terrific creepy story. I've heard about the family killings a couple months ago and have heard the interview with Roger. He sounds convincing but it is also suspect when a convenient witness arrives out if the blue. It's not evidence but the campsite has supposedly been eradicated with even the utility poles cut down. The area is also relatively near Fort Campbell, location of some strange encounters from Wartime Stories.

THUMBS UP for your straight forward honesty! "It's pretty mush a reprint of transcripts of our videos, so don't buy it if you are expecting anything different!" I very mush respect and appreciate honesty!
I also note your shows are nearly completely kid friendly, so I would recommend it for older kids who want some light spook!

Assuming Roger's story is true (big assumption, no offense to him) the soldiers he saw probably weren't National Guard soldiers, they were likely Special Forces. There have long been rumors that special operations troops have been used by the government to deal with Cryptids. Also, Guard soldiers would take too long to get ready and deploy as well as be more likely to talk about it later

I live in roane county TN and Iâve heard stories my entire life about this place, and if you ever get to go there, thereâs a certain heavy feeling in the air when your there, it could just be me psyching myself out based off my memory of the stories but having heard them then visiting here will keep you on your toes

I find the stories of Dog Men (cynocephalus) most interesting. We have tales of them going back much further than most people realize. One thing I find fascinating is that we have a lot of stories of interaction with these beings where the witness(es) come in contact with them and, though clearly terrified, are not harmed when the creatures clearly could have done so. Though I believe in the possibility of skinwalkers, I somehow do not think that is what most people are encountering with these beings. Great production, thank you!

How interesting. I used to go camping as a boy with the Boy Scouts at Land Between The Lakes, but I never heard this story before now. Probably just as well, had I known about this at the time, I can't imagine there would have been too many scouts getting much sleep out there in the middle of nowhere.
