Augmented chords are used to create tension and, in most cases, facilitate resolution. In this lesson I show you not only how to play augmented chords and their variations on the guitar neck, but also how they function in progressions.

We start with augmented triads, moving on to augmented 7th chords, learning how they can function in chord progressions.

Later in the video I show you a nifty trick for playing/accompanying augmented chords fluidly, anywhere on the neck, based on their "symmetry". So make sure you stick around for that!

First lesson about aug chords that really made me hear them differently and understand more about their characteristic. How come noone teaches us about aug chords symmetry! And your progression examples are really fantastic, thanks!

The best lesson on augmented chords. The examples used for application is amazing. Most people never go into how to use these chords. Amazing job.

Congratulations dude you are totally the first person that has made any sense of theory for me. I watch and rewatch (and rewatch) so could be just the 'sinking in' thing but I'm pretty sure its your explanations. This lesson in particular. Thank you.

Great explanation. In some music theory classes they usually explain the augmented chords but not how to use them in a key context, what is the most important thing.
