I usually discover different chord types while playing on the guitar. I change notes around in a chord and decide if it sounds good by ear. Then I find out that what I have done with the chord is actually theoretically applied. It happens that it was the same with an augmented chord. I was going from E to Am, but I wanted to jazz it up. So I was playing E9 to Am7, then I said what if I slide this "9" half step up, and I liked the tension in the transition.

Merci for this. I don't have a lot of music theory training, so I use your videos to help me understand better. When you do those chord loops, you often end on a chord that needs to be resolved. Since you are doing this for songwriters, would they know that this is just part of the path and they would have to find a way to end the song?
But I heard somewhere that some modes never resolve and lead to long jams. Is this the idea with these examples?
