A shoot interview is an interview that is conducted out of character with a wrestler, promoter, manager, or other insider generally being interviewed about their career and asked to give their opinion on wrestlers, promotions, or specific events in their past. Back in the dayā€¦ there was a huge market for wrestling shoot interviews. I remember the second any wrestler left WWE, everyone would be waiting in anticipation for their shoot interview to see them absolutely rip into the company and anyone else. Shoot interviews nowadays are definitely not the sameā€¦ back in the day, they were BLOODSPORT. Today weā€™re going to be discussing some of the most heated wrestling shoot interviews.

Gotta appreciate Awesome Kong being a physically massive woman and not leaving any opponent with an injury.

Jim's shoot interviews on Russo and Jim Herd are epic. I swear 100 years from now you'll be able to visit Jim's final resting place, mention the name Vince Russo, and the dirt will start spouting F-bombs.

I like Awesome Kong, sheā€™s one of the greatest heel women wrestlers of all time. And she always took care of her opponents and never tried to intentionally injure anyone during matches. I like that too!

That reporter asking Ian Rotten his opening question was one of the funniest slow burn jokes I've ever heard. I expected him to just keep listing things and never actually ask a question.

Thanks so much for finding, listening to and giving credit to the excellent 2011 shoot interview Jerry Wiseman did with Ian Rotten for his ā€œAnd Then The Bell Ringsā€ radio show. When I was on Twitter I followed Wiseman and told him how much I loved what he did and said, and he followed me back and we had some good conversations about wrestling at times. Heā€™s a great guy and Iā€™m really glad he took the time to talk to me like he did!

Thereā€™s nothing quite like Jim Cornette pissed off and hopped up on Sprite Zero

You gotta understand the context of Cornette's hate for hardcore wrestling. It specifically made business difficult for him in the early 2000s when he was promoting OVW as the Kentucky state athletic commission came down hard on wrestling as a whole as a result of Ian Rotten's IWA Mid-South. Ian was able to promote in Indiana with little to no consequence, but Cornette was left to deal with the strict rules and bad press as a result of Ian Rotten.

I guess Hogan being friends with Bubba makes a lot of sense in hindsight.

I love how the last interview pretty much validates Cornetteā€™s opinion on hardcore wrestling lol

Oh my goodness dude! What a nostalgia trip! I love Sean Oliver and his work with interviewing. Hell of a dude and always comes prepared. He's my favorite of all shoot interviewers and seemingly one of the pioneers of the wrestling shoots

Sean Oliver is one of my favorite personalities in wrestling. Love him on Kevin Nashā€™s podcast

I miss those days before everyone had a podcast, when You Shoot really had a corner on the market. Sean Oliver should be in the Conrad Thompson position, not taking anything away from Conrad, but Sean had his way of getting a good story out of anyone.
