I have the same living situation. I live in a small studio apartment in New York City that I own. I've been trying to sell it for the past few years but it's been difficult due to the fact that people don't want to live in small spaces and the mortgage interest rates are high. In any case, I have the same dilemma in that I want to live in a bigger space but I will be paying way more money since bigger places are more expensive + interest rate issue. So it's cheaper to stay here. No easy answer.

Girl, I feel you! I live in quite a tiny one-room and I am a student so I am home studying a lot of the time and after a while it gets stuffy!! So I also have to go to work at a cafΓ© or at the uni library... but I wish I could get a bigger place, even a two-room would do π
Buuut as you said it could get pretty expensive, especially in the university areas in Seoul π₯² Btw I'm here for the US fall content yayyy πππ
