1PW were due to have an event in Wales at a comic con, advertising X - Pac on the show. They asked fans to suggest names. They picked mine, which was Unconventional. I was made up. They produced a poster and pushed it.
Then it got cancelled.

I stumbled across this video and after watching I’m really surprised. I went to 1PW in Doncaster earlier this year and watched the likes of Will Ospreay and Bobby Fish, the show was amazing and all was pretty much a success. I also know they’ve just had a show with Matt Cardona on it. Had no idea about the Shawn Michaels stuff but by the sounds of it the owners find money every now and then resulting in them overpaying too quickly for talent. My thoughts go out the the fans in 2011 because that would’ve really pissed me off. Kind of thinking about never going to another show but as long as the show is confirmed I don’t think there’s a problem to be had from the fans side

I was given tickets to their return show and enjoyed the show.
I didnt even know all this drama had happened tbh.
Its ran by the same group who run BWR in Grimsby so lets hope it doesnt fall back into baad habits from the past.

A few facts I remember from this time and from the subsequent boom on 1PW's downfall.
Kevin Nash was booked for a 1PW show in May as well as BCW in Scotland and WXW in Germany. The week before the event he announced he wouldn't make it due to a lack of contact from Danny Rodd.
He then corrected this saying there was a mix up.
Towards the end if the Danny Rodd run.
Several local talents were told on show days that the promoter couldn't afford to pay them, and even offered to pay UK talent in DVDs. I believe this included then 1PW heavyweight champion Lionheart (RIP)

1PW at the Doncaster Dome was my first ever wrestling show. The main event was Abyss vs Steve Corino vs Christian for the NWA World's championship. Also met Lance Storm

I honestly clicked on this before i knew what this was about😂
I remember watching 1PW on TWC and almost could have attended their last show. I remember that they were trying to get Hall & Nash for it, but Hall pulled out, honestly the last show sounded 50/50 whether or not it was going ahead or not? which is why I didn't go😅 never knew about them trying to get HBK though?
Their newest shows honestly aren't too bad, but feel a little weaker compared to their past stuff and right now their just another decent indy among many similar ones.
I always did wonder where 1PW got all their funds from to pay all these big names? I thought that they had some sort of partnership with an independent media store, but no way that alone could have been enough surely?

I was lucky enough to be in Doncaster at the time of 1PW and it was INSANE. The whole town got involved and all the local buses ran big 1PW advertisements on the side. I rememebr being on the Doncaster Center bus one day and everyone was talking about 1PW, they heard that I was American and they all clapped for me because they like wrestling and 1PW. Doncaster is a great town with great people, i HIGHLY recommend you visit!

Does anyone remember the 1PW-Show with Yokozuna vs. Ultimate Warrior in June 2020? Man, that was a hell of a show. The audience was on fire.

I was partly introduced to the greater indie scene of the 00s when i was like 14 when i got a Fighting Spirit magazine that had a 1PW DVD in it, mind-blowing shit for a kid in Australia without internet who had no access to wrestling outside of the WWE

I do remember the Shawn Michaels uk etc appearances being given a huge amount of coverage/publicity in the wrestling media. It's also 2023 now and UK promotors still haven't learned that constantly bringing in a huge amount of international fly ins won't work financially!
