In popular culture, stages 1 and 2 are often portrayed as the "honeymoon phase," where couples are deeply infatuated and experiencing intense passion and romance. However, this image can sometimes overshadow the realistic picture of long-term relationships, which require effort, compromise, and growth.

Maintaining a healthy relationship can be difficult but it is definitely worth it in the long run. My boyfriend and I have had many fights and many times we went to bed angry at each other. We give each other space and talk it out. After everything and all these years, he is my comfort person and I feel safe with him. It’s like the giddy “I’m obsessed with you” type of love while also the trusting, loyal, caring “this is my person, my other half” type of love. It is seriously worth it and I’ve never been happier.

Went through all these stages and now arrived somewhere between 4 and 5. It's beautiful and I wouldn't want it any other way. But man, this took effort! Compromises, hurt, serious self reflection, and so, so many difficult conversations. It is all worth it, but it takes a lot of courage and I totally understand why people sometimes choose not to move stage 3. This world is difficult enough, I completely understand why one might not have the necessary resources to pour themselves into this kind of commitment. Heck, I dont even know if I would do it if I wouldn't already be married to my partner!
