Thank you for singing this out loud. There are or have been secret rules for us girls/ladies. Like look good, smell always nice, be shaved, wear your Make-up like a queen and for that we awakened hours earlier cause we feared that if we didn't take these precautions we would get left out. Or just straight up ignored. The tall Men only rule, what bs lurked in my head, like how are we all into this? And sacrifice our own needs so that everyone around us feels great except us most of the time.. Yes and smile the shit out of this world cause a mad face would get you called a Bitch. Awesome.

"Take his name
Give your sanity
Take the blame
Put his mind at ease
Trade it all
For a false sense of insecurity
Fall in love
Fall in line with all his fanasty"
Being a feminist and coming from a very conservative society where I m being told that I have to give up dreaming big if I m gonna get married.....this hit hard.

Listening to this just had my whole life flash in my mind all the way until now. Married with three kids, to a "nice man" (he's actually the nicest good hearted man that I've ever known) and yet I find out is deep down still a man who wants exactly what this song describes from a woman. I'm not saying this is every man, just what I've experienced in my life. Used up and no longer perfect, and he finds his fantasy elsewhere until I perfect myself and become the lovely shell of a person he desires again. I can always reel them back in, at the cost of myself. Every man, genuinely nice or not. Never changes or works for you, but you always have to for them or be alone. Maybe it's better to be alone.

What I love is that this song has such a...Sing-able quality?? Nothing is too long for a normal person, the lyrics are very memorable, and this is stuff every girl NEEDS TO KNOW! Dark, sad, existential, and of course it is! How else would you describe the world to a group of newly blossomed girls? I needed this over more Avril Lavine bullshit as a kid.

"But I don't trust what's in my cup." The brutally honest truth this song speaks is immaculate.
