I've heard it said that Kiryu being slower and bouncing off of guards and not doing much damage is supposed to be thematic. He's getting older. He's not in his prime anymore. He can reclaim a bit of his strength all over again, but for his final game he's scraping by on skill rather than the old pinnacles of his raw power.

One thing I absolutely hate about the Iwamis and Sugai is that they constantly blame others for things they themselves did. "Because you revealed the secret all those deaths were in meaningless", "Since you refuse to let Someya kill you, now Kiyomi is gonna die", etc. Also Sugai is a disgusting boot licker, only as strong as whoever's nuts he's gargling and Iwami Tsuneo postures like he's tough shit but only has the upper hand when he's threatening Haruka and Haruto with guns and Kiryu can't react

The Haruka's fan substory was my favourite. The substory shows the impact Haruka left after Yakuza 5. Its a way to show how Kiryu is a proud father to Haruka and how grateful he is to have a daughter like her. Its also a great way to appreciate the father daughter relationship after we spend times between these two characters throughout the series. Stuff like that make me bawling my eyes out. Anyways, this is a great video Son, proud of you.

Yakuza 6 is bit of a mixed bag for me. I love the Hiroshi Family and the Slice of Life moments. However, Iâm divided on how the story played out. The conclusion made sense, but the beginning felt like a rehash of Yakuza 1 with Kiryu going to jail like him repeating the same mistake again. Also, Haruka was treated dirty in this game.

See, I kinda disagree that this is a good ending for Kiryuâs story. Kiryuâs entire arc in Yakuza 5 is him learning that putting distance between himself and the people he loves to âprotect themâ is bad for both him and his loved ones. Him choosing to fake his death at the end of Y6 feels like him regressing and forgetting what heâd previously learned. Also, donât even make me get into how bad it is that Y6 puts Haruka into a coma for 90% of the story after spending her entire chapter in Y5 giving her agency and making her feel like a full person with her own story independent from Kiryuâs.

The main series is finally over... just want to say I'm proud of you for seeing it through, Son.
6 was an AMAZING entry. I do agree that some of the combat changes and the side content is lacking compared to some of the other entries, but the story is just so good that it makes up for it. I definitely enjoyed it returning to you just playing one character though. There's just something about seeing a character through one long journey that's incredibly satisfying. Anyways, keep up the good work, Son. Can't wait to see the next entry.
