I had no idea Quake II was hated or even disliked. I remember when it came out on PC, literally everyone loved it here, it was amazing.

I think the Quake 2 soundtrack makes every FPS better.

The thing I like about Nightdive is that they grab a classic, somehow make it more classic, and never rub anything in the players face... they do their job, and get out of the way... true humble heroes of gaming.

Quake 2 multiplayer was pretty much all I played back in the late 90s. Incredible times. I jumped into this remaster immediately. Its really bringing me back.

Quake 2 is an amazing album that comes with a free game. And it's a really good game, too.

Sonic Mayhem did not disappear after Quake 3, he just started writing music under his real name - Sascha Dikiciyan. He also did music for Prototype, Mass Effect , Borderlands, StarCraft II and Warhammer 40k Space Marine

If Nightdive gives Quake 3 the same treatment, I REALLY hope they include an option to use the soundtrack from the Sega Dreamcast version. It was epic.

As someone who struggled to get through the first level of Quake 2 due to it being very incompatible with my computer, this remaster turned this into one of my favorite games I've played in the last couple years. I think remasters like this are a fantastic step for introducing older games to younger audiences like me!

"Remember, you control the buttons you press". The life lesson we never knew we needed for modern times.

I loved this game as a middle schooler. The chaingun and the Sonic Mayhem soundtrack was amazing. I remember being so excited that you could play the games soundtrack if you put in your CD player.

I'm glad my old man taught me to appreciate this game, it felt absolutely cutting edge when it came out. We didn't get a lot of technology brand new growing up, hell we had dial up until 2009, but I remember him coming home and peeling the plastic off the box of Quake II the day it came out. We booted it up and took turns each death, and even the simplest things like the sound of the pump action shotgun takes me back. This game was and is special.

I think some of the "added" attacks were actually things that was cut from the game originally but they put them back in for the remaster. Maybe it was too innovative at the time, but now its all welcomed

Let me tell you, getting a Voodoo 2 card to play Quake 2 and Turok remains one of the best memories I've ever had when it comes to games.

I’m loving the attention Quake has been getting as of late from Bethesda. I REALLY hope that 4 gets a remaster soon; that game really got the body horror of the strogg so well.

Quake 2 was the first video game I played. My mom played Q1 and Q2 competitively back in the 90's and got me into it as well.

Quake 2 was the first multiplayer shooter I played back in high school. We'd go to the computer lab in the evening and just have LANs that would go on for hours, fragging each other and during my second year I had a lot of free time due to taking less classes, so I would often sit in the library playing Quake 2. I was obsessed with this game and to this day it's one of my favourite shooters from the 90s.

Hopefully we'll see a Nightdive remaster of Heretic / Hexen someday.

I jumped right into the Machine Game campaign and played it left to right. I had a really good time with it. Loved the ending! And you can see clearly that that took some inspiration from the Quake (1) modding community. I was a well-designed campaign, six maps, each about an hour long, great for an evening session. And I really loved these slaughter encounters.

I remember Rune also had enemies leaping off ledges to face you, sometimes to their death, the AI was quite impressive when you played around with placing objects, they recognised walkable surfaces even when it was a row of barrels I put and climbed up ledges too it was hilarious when you spawn them on top of a castle and after a brief fight jump to your doom seeing mid air that 2 or 3 of them decided to follow you, that's dedication
