DBT is not only used for over-emotional people. On the opposite end, after childhood abuse, my body shut down in processing physical and emotional pain so i can cope with daily life (kind of defense mechanism). After growing up, I still have trouble "feeling" anything, like flat line mood 24/7 (not depress) just everything is mehh, neither happy nor sad and physically lack awareness. My counsellor worked with me using DBT to get in touch with my emotions and physical awareness.

Please note, not all therapy works for everyone. This is an educational video explaining what it is and how it works. If you find this helpful, please share this shorts! We can create a series on this if there is enough request on it. As always, consult a mental health professional to find the best therapy for you.

DBT has absolutely helped me! I was taking DBT before i had been diagnosed with BPD, partly because my psychologist led a group and recognized that i had those traits, even if i didnā€™t yet have an accurate diagnosis. These skills are more helpful than anything when I start getting disregulated.

This was what I was looking for several years ago. Unfortunately very few therapists use it, (where I live), and the ones that do, are not taking new patients. I will look into what I can do on my own, as I was recently overwhelmed by a new ā€œfriendshipā€. Had to call it off, as I just couldnā€™t deal with the guilt, and walking on eggshells again. I donā€™t think I was wrong to end it, I just know I handled it all very poorly. At least I noticed the pattern this time, and didnā€™t let it go on longer. šŸ’–

Iā€˜d love to have everyone having a counsellor to speak to as itā€˜s beneficial for everyone, like a coach, processing emotions & reflecting. This therapy is super beneficial I have experience in it too. Good to inform. For me, it had the best results. Mental health is so important! Yes animation styles are so Loveable ā¤

Unfortunately it's very expensive, and most people who need this treatment can't afford it... funny world we live in. Great video nonetheless ^^

Iā€™m not sure about everyone else, but when I did dbt, I had such a bad experience, I was blamed, and shamed for relapses, and also whenever their ā€œskillsā€ didnā€™t work. I was told by my therapist ā€œitā€™s like weā€™re in a rowboat going down a river, and Iā€™m the only one rowingā€. It was so deeply hurtful, I was trying so hard for so long to get better but she basically told me that Iā€™m actively trying to not get better. I came out of dbt worse than I went in, and I went in in an awful state. And they just didnā€™t care about my problems, my therapist forgot massive details I told her. And on my final session, she basically shamed me and guilt tripped me for leaving
