Could a player on the tee say "This is a practice shot" and then do a drive to "warm up" and then not count that "practice drive" and start with the second shot?

If you're playing in a 36hole competition on 1 day can you still practice on the green during the first 18?
I believe you can play Handicap qualifying rounds before a Matchplay 1v1 but not the other way around for the same reason (practicing the course).
