I started a Substack! I have a lot to say, and really love writing. Here's my first post – the first of a 6-week deep dive on screens and sleep: open.substack.com/pub/nessyhill/p/how-bad-is-blue-…

My PhD graduation ceremony is today (!!!), and like any baby, a PhD baby takes a village. Taking a moment to post my thesis acknowledgements: A shoutout to my wonderful PhD supervisors, friends + fam for supporting me through a truly wild 5 years of life.
It wasn't an easy journey – my dad passed away suddenly, I did 5 rounds of IVF, moved across the US, wrote my entire thesis while I was pregnant, and did my revisions with a tiny baby. All while I somehow kept my small business going???
Sometimes I feel like I have a new sharp sleep-expert part of my brain, which is just sitting on a pile of mashed potatoes (i.e., the rest of my brain). Comment 🥔 if your brain is also a potato.

Really fun to chat with @mattdavellafor his new @threerulespodcast! As a researcher, it was a good challenge to organise my thinking into three rules anyone can use to improve their rest. watch video on watch page

Hi! I'm Dr Vanessa Hill, a sleep researcher and science communicator. On BrainCraft I explore psychology, neuroscience and self-development. My mission is to bridge the gap between scientific research and your daily well-being.
Outside of my regular videos, you can find BrainCraft as a series on PBS, watch my YouTube Originals show Sleeping With Friends, or check out my PBS docu-series Attention Wars. There's so much to watch, I'm honestly not sure why you're still reading this.
But since you are, please consider subscribing and supporting my Patreon so I can continue to make educational videos 🧠✨
