A couple things this week...the Route 66 community mourns the loss of Rich Henry, owner of Henry's Rabbit (or Ra66it) Ranch in Staunton, Illinois. I've been there many times and interestingly there was always someone from another country there. But Rich was everyone's friend and was always down for a good conversation. He will be missed by all.

Speaking of Route 66, I will have a brand-new Mother Road video on Wednesday, plus two brand-new St. Louis episodes on Tuesday and Thursday, though one will be technically a remake of one of my earlier videos. It's one of those things where I felt like I could perfect something....

Last night my video on Gayle McCormick became the first to enter the 10K club - or the 1st to hit 10,000 views. A huge thank you to those who have watched, liked and commented on the video. Many have shared their thoughts and memories of Gayle, which was awesome. I have learned even more information! So I was like, "what does this mean?". Maybe viewers are fascinated with her story as much as I am. Maybe people love her voice and music, even after (nearly) 50 years since her final recording? Or maybe people are proud she was a St. Louisan. Or is it her mystique? I don't know, but this gave me an idea: maybe reach out to Joe Edwards about submitting her name to the St. Louis Walk of Fame? (For those that don't know, Edwards is the founder of the St. Louis Walk of Fame on Delmar Ave (as well as one of the guys who makes the big decisions), plus he owns Blueberry Hill and other businesses on the Delmar Loop. I've worked with him on projects in the past). But the rules are strict on what gets an individual or group inducted into the STL Walk of Fame. Like, did she have international impact? Yeah, I'd say so. I've had at least three people from foreign countries saying how they were fans of Gayles. I know that I'm not the first to bring up the idea of Gayle and the Walk of Fame, but it doesn't hurt to bring it up again. Thoughts, anyone?

Thank you again!

This week I'll be back to posting Historic National Road videos, which I'll be doing every other week. Today will be a compilation video for all Illinois towns that are on the National Road. Throughout this year I shot new footage of towns that I visited back in 2020, so I think this will be enjoyable. On Thursday I will continue my journey from Columbus, Ohio (where I left off) to Cumberland, Maryland. Trust me, the road gets more interesting - the further I get - as there are several Historic National Road structures that have survived more than a century.

This week I'm featuring State Capitol buildings. I'll have three videos of me touring the inside and outside of three different state houses/capitols. The first one will go live at Noon central. It was never really my intention to visit many state capitols, but now that I have been to four - I feel like I have to visit all 50 now! Don't know if that will ever happen but hey we shall see.

Have you visited your state's capitol building? Just remember it is free and it helps you learn about your state among many other things.

I hope everyone has a safe holiday week. Happy July 4th!

May is National Military Appreciation Month, and throughout the month I'll be focusing on national cemeteries. I'll be showing you national cemeteries located in seven different states. A new "Behind the Organization" ep will be coming up soon and, in that, I explain the National Cemetery system in the United States. Visiting one is a great way to remember our heroes.

This week I'll be spotlighting Ronald Reagan. I visited a couple places related to him in SoCal, so since his birthday is around the corner (as well as Presidents Day), I thought I'd show them on here. Whether or not you like the guy or agreed with his views, I'm sure you'll find something interesting about the 40th POTUS's life. I'll be posting them tomorrow (Monday), Wed and Friday at Noon Central!

Posting one video this week and it will be live at Noon central today (1/10). I bring my "A Stroll Through..." series to L.A. where I walk along Hollywood Blvd and Vine Street, checking out numerous landmarks. It's lengthy (45 minutes long) but I guarantee it will be worth your time if you enjoy seeing Hollywood history. Pics below are me in front of the Capitol Records building and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (did you know Marilyn Monroe did her first photoshoot there? Now you know :) )

Happy New Years all! Thanks to everyone who has subscribed, commented, followed, liked and watched on this channel throughout 2023! My first video of 2024 will be tomorrow at noon central. Back in September, I traveled the Historic National Road, from Casey, IL to Springfield, Ohio. (I hope to finish the rest of the road sometime this year!) So, I went through several towns and cities and most will be featured in future episodes about America's first federally-funded road. Those episodes will be shown every other week, and between them will be my recent adventures in Los Angeles.

My latest video (the It's a Wonderful Life Bridge) will be going live shortly! This will be the final full-length video of 2023. I will probably put up a couple or few shorts here and there from then to the end of the year. For now, I hope everyone has a very safe holiday season. Don't let the stress get you down. I can't wait for 2024 and I'm already editing stuff for that year. I'll announce sometime during the last week of '23 on what I have in store. SYOYT!
