This post is for the women who want to be mothers and those struggling to make that dream a reality. I am not posting for the child free by choice crew, especially those who are so cruel to the women waking the path of infertility.

Now that we’ve cleared that up…

The birth control pill can help acne, make you bleed regularly (not regulate your cycle), and in some cases, help with period pain. The pill is not a treatment for endometriosis, but it can manage symptoms.

But here’s the problem: when you’re given the pill at 15 for period problems, your doctor isn’t thinking about you wanting to get pregnant in the future. They are only thinking about you not getting pregnant now.

And while they give you the pill to manage your symptoms (often because they do really care), if they don’t figure out why you have them, then that’s a set up for potential fertility problems to follow.

PCOS and endometriosis are leading causes of infertility.

PCOS and endometriosis are some of the most common conditions treated with the pill (most of the time without knowing it).

I’m not saying don’t use the pill.
I’m saying, figure out the cause of your symptoms.

PCOS can be diagnosed via symptoms and labs.

Many times, endometriosis can be diagnosed it imaging.

You deserve to know what is causing your symptoms and be given treatment options.

And before you come with some nasty assumptions about me to back up your bias:
- I did the pill for 10 years, it masked my endometriosis
- It took 29 years for me to be diagnosed with endometriosis
- I have secondary infertility
- I just went through a pretty traumatic miscarriage, which was my 6th so I don’t have capacity for BS and haters
