***News 21/11/2024 – Something old, something new***
A bunch of news as we approach the end of the year: Bluesky, DailyMotion, DCS, Hardware, Armored Brigade 2.

As I was getting close to finally finishing the first part of an ARH missiles study, I noticed a minor discrepancy in the data collected. The results are basically not affected, but the whole thing annoys me, so I am sorting the issue and collecting new values. Then I need to recreate 30+ charts, re-edit the video and whatnot :|
(I'm really tempted to ditch this and go play Sea Power lol)

The JF-17 RWS/Trackfiles issue I raised recently was actually a bug. Deka devs have promptly fixed it in the latest DCS patch (2.9.9.2280).

Remarkable turnaround from Deka!

Hey folks!
After yesterday's video discussing some points I did not understand, thanks for the great answers; by the way, I still had a major complaint: no English manual. So, in pure Hannibal's fashion, I used a bunch of online services to do a machine translation of the complete Chinese manual. I'm sure there are issues, as in everything AI-related, but I guess it is better than nothing.

WIP I have another video about an intercept technique, another historical article (a quite interesting one, imo), plus more JF-17 stuff. About the study I mentioned recently, I decided to add another layer of tests, so I need "a couple" (~10,000) more data points before moving towards the data analysis. After that, I will go back to the beloved Phantom II, with topics such as navigation, air-to-ground, and so on.

Hey folks,
Due to unforeseen circumstances (sickness), I lost a whole week's worth of writing and testing. I'm now back to the usual (slow) pace. While the last '70s bits of the A/A discussion are being worked on, I started collecting data for the next big study — see the attached images.
On a different note, there is a modern module I kept an eye on for a long time that I still don't own: Deka's JF-17.
It seems a neat modern aircraft for 2000+ scenarios. It has acceptable radar and primary air-to-air missile and it is not the usual F-15/16/18 (which I find pretty dull and soulless - de gustibus). Since I am not interested in dogfighting, it sounds indeed like an excellent choice to change the topic now and then from the usual stuff, especially when I feel burnt out (like these days).
What do you guys think?

Hey folks! I plan to release the next A/A part soon about CATA and BH assessment. I had to redo and expand the video a few times, trying to make this neat technique clearer and easier to use.
On the other hand, I only write and make videos about stuff I can use and test myself, no blind copy-paste from other sources. This requires time.
Attached is a WIP screenshot of the upcoming video. Ready your goniometers, lads!

Hey folks, given the feedback received ~10d ago, I am continuing the work on the A/A side with a couple more "bite-sized" videos covering the antenna elevation angle and CATA + Target heading (both of them without lockon). Then, a look at at least another intercept technique. Although, as mentioned, I am not sure how much it will be used.
I also tested a couple of scenarios about the new AI group behaviour (https://youtu.be/hy30Uy4118o), and I am quite perplexed. I have seen groups not defending at all, or even entire SAM batteries stop firing if several groups are flying. I am indeed confused. The A/A missile reaction looks a bit better through.
Apart from that, I have been releasing several videos recently, but I am getting quite burned out. A huge contributing factor is that I can't fly, and my last proper mission was four years ago.
Unfortunately, no ETA yet for Sea Power, Armoured Brigade II or even MW5:C, although Regiments has just released a new DLC. C:MO is always a good option, but picky as I am, I have found that fighters need a bit too much babysitting to really enjoy it :P
I guess I'll start looking at the F-4E INS and CMS then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hey folks! After only 3 months and ~20 videos, I finally arrived at a solid point A/A-wise, suitable to move towards something interesting. Ergo, the first no-lockon intercept: the Sync-Z-Turn (which I then reapplied to 4 other aircraft, but this was not unplanned). I admit I expected a bit warmer reception considering how many issues it solves.
Anyhow, there are at least another two methods I would like to discuss at some point, such as the "40 cold of CATA". However, these techniques require the assessment of CATA or other parameters, whereas the Sync-Z-Turn more or less always work.
So, question: should I pause the A/A a bit and move on towards avionics (e.g. Nav, CM) and A/G, or should I carry on? Is there something in particular you'd like to see?
Lastly, given some non-that-great feedback about the fact that I don't refresh the basics in every single video (an impossible task unless you want 6h-long videos), I hastily put together this simple page and pinned it in the comments: flyandwire.com/training-centre-video-landing-page/
Some links are already present in the description, but apparently, there is a correlation between complaining about the lack of information and not checking the description box (*meow* lol). Jokes aside, it is still WIP, and feedback is welcome, as usual.

Hey folks! Unfortunately, I had barely a couple of hours of spare time last week, and the video I am working on is almost half an hour long. Ergo, it takes a lot of time to edit it. Moreover, 30 minutes of theory and "elementary school" examples and tactics can be very boring, so I decided to do something radical: split each Intercept Geometry-related concept in a 1-2 minute video and post them as "Geometry Pills". This should make the whole thing more digestible and easy to understand: we need this "boring" stuff to understand the "cool" stuff later on.
If I find some spare time, I'll post some videos later or tomorrow.
