The wildest story I’ve ever heard.

Two former Royal Marines, John and Ian, were attempting to travel from the source of the Amazon, atop a volcano Called Chimborazo in the Ecuadorean Andes, to the Atlantic Ocean by hiking and paddling down the entire length of the river.

Things didn’t exactly go to plan and I can’t imagine your will have heard a story quite like this one…

Courage, determination, unselfishness and cheerfulness in the face of adversity. All displayed in spades by these two legends.

Empathetic
Open

Adopting the right mindset is key to getting the best result in each situation.

The right actions and decisions will flow from it.

Incorporating this in your personal life is transformative.

To switch seamlessly between activities…

Focused on your work
Motivated in the gym
Relaxed at home

Selecting the right one is something that can be trained.

Until it’s like flicking a switch.

But there’s nothing magic about it – it’s about building the skill through discipline and repetition until it’s an extension of your character.

The hot debrief - immediately after a patrol , deliberate op or even a contact we would debrief at a low level and make adjustments to the way we operate at micro and macro levels and the same is true in life.

Tomorrows episode is just that, part of a series of 3 minute or less videos that will comment on a current affair or something that has inspired change or a tactic to take forward into your daily life.

The difference…

Is clarity of purpose.

Going for a jog today is a good thing.

But alone it’s not training, unless you build on it tomorrow as part of a wider plan.

Increased physical performance requires training.

A strong mindset is no different…

Exercises like meditation might be helpful but alone it’s not enough.

Resilience to stress & self-doubt.
Control under pressure.
Confidence.

All require training.

You need a clear purpose, a structured plan and the dedication to put the reps in.
