One of the earliest ‘Franco-Belgian’ bow-holds was implemented in Italy during the 15th-16th centuries, as depicted in the 1500s painting ‘Madonna Enthroned with Saints Peter, G. Battista, Catherine, Paul, and Two Musician Angels, St. Lawrence and St. Francis’ by Bartolomeo Montagna (1450-1523)
