Hello!

As you can see I have changed the channel's name. I really wasn't sure why I made my name Utilitarian Otter in the first place, to be honest. I wasn't totally against it but it didn't have much relevance and was way too many syllables. So, I found the name Professor Otter and think it fits the niche I would like to fill.

I know that in the past my videos were very animal-skewed but I tried branching away from animals before to limited success. While I find animals very fascinating I find it hard to add my own thoughts and personality when covering factual information like talking about details of different animal species. I have decided to try to branch into a more traditional video essay format for my videos. I have always loved video essays and find myself lucky that I can even try to explore that more now.

I know that this isn't why you all subscribed but I have a feeling most of my viewers at the very least like to learn. I want to make all sorts of videos some still about animals and cover whatever I find interesting at the time.

Please check out my newest video linked if you're interested. It is, in my opinion, the best thing I've ever made. I spent the last month making it. My next video topic I have picked out and should be very exciting.

Thank you all for sticking with my channel. I hope you learned something.

Merry Christmas to all of my subscribers that celebrate it! I just put out a revised version of my first long-form essay from last Christmas on It's a Wonderful Life. I always loved that video and just felt it needed some polish. Also, it got copyright claimed last year (despite the movie being public domain nowadays). Enjoy the video!

Here is the Hybrid Animals video that was voted for almost two months ago now. I got pretty busy with school and took a small break but I'm all done with College this week and will have much more time to focus on the channel. I hope you enjoy this video. I'm still working on the long video I teased a while back and hope to have that out in a week or two. Thank you for all the great comments I do look at all of them!

For a new video which will be my longest by far, what are some animals you find particularly scary or off putting! This video should release in 2-3 weeks. Thanks!

Thank you so much for voting in the poll! It got over 1,400 votes in just a week. Tomorrow I'll post another poll to decide next weekend's video topic. I hope you enjoy the red panda video!

I want to include my community in my video-making process as much as possible so for my next video, I'm going to try doing a poll. Whichever topic wins will end up being a 3-8 minute video I'll release this Friday or Saturday.

I have been wanting to make a post to thank all of my new subscribers and now I can because I hit 10,000 yesterday! I started doing youtube as a hobby because I love to teach people things and I can't believe how many people have taken a liking to it!

I hope you are all enjoying my longer-form videos recently. I still plan on making more shorts on the channel in the near future though! Please comment if there are any topics you would like covered in a video. I read every comment on youtube and every post on my subreddit (www.reddit.com/r/UtilitarianOtter/). I want to continue building this community for a long time.

I hope you learned something!!!
