Do you think it would be a good idea to post a video or two of me jamming with the college kids across the street?

I had another interesting neighbor encounter. Yesterday there was a knock at the door. My wife answered it and I heard her say, "he's eating lunch but come on in and ask him." I'm thinking "who could this be?" It was the boy across the street. Well, I say he is a boy because I saw him grow up in the neighborhood. He is now 20 or 21 and will be a Junior at Loyola next year. He is taking jazz drum lessons at Loyola. He wanted to know if I wanted to jam. I was thinking of what a hassle it is to rig down and rig up to go over to his house. He has a friend who plays bass and guitar and they were jamming at his house at that time. I was doing some house work and didn't have time yesterday but I had an idea. Later, I walked over to his house. They were upstairs jamming. I went upstairs and got his phone number and told him I would text him a few Hendrix songs that they could work on and then they could set up at my house and we would do a video or two for my YouTube channel. It should be interesting. I think he is pretty good and they were excited about the idea. I don't want to bog them down with learning a Hendrix song completely so we will pick a good jam like Hear My Train a Comin' and commence to peeling paint. I will make sure they wear earplugs because I am not sure they are really ready for big stage volume. Plus, I don't want his parents accusing me a deafening their children, LOL. Hopefully we get something done within the next few weeks before the family gets here.

I had an interesting neighbor encounter yesterday, or my wife did I should say. I was jamming my usual 120 dB jam from 5-7 PM. I cut my time down to that time slot to try to keep my neighbors from complaining. I've been doing this for over 20 years but 9 years of that with vintage Fender amps which are so loud. I used to play until 10 PM until I finally got my first complaint recently which was mainly about the subwoofer's low frequency keeping his kids awake. So I decided to shut down at 7 PM in hopes that it was a satisfactory compromise.
When I came out of the jam room, my wife had a funny look on her face and said, "I just had an interesting conversation with the neighbor across the street." My heart stopped because I knew if they complained, my life as a jammer would soon end. We hardly ever talk to these neighbors of 21 years (which is a sad commentary on community for another time). My wife said that John (Doe) came to the door and wanted to thank me for playing. He told my wife that it was like a free concert every day. I was still a little skeptical thinking it was just his way of letting me know that enough is enough and that he hears me (which I am still not so sure is not the case) but my wife said he was very pleasant, said he sits out on his front porch sometimes with a scotch on the rocks, and enjoys the concert. Well, that made my day for sure. I was so happy that it wasn't a complaint. My wife explained to John that I record YouTube videos so maybe he will understand a little more as to why I play the same song over and over when I am trying to learn one for YouTube. My wife thought it was very nice for him to say what he did. Thank You John! Rock On Brother.

You've got to hear the new and improved Sabbadius Funky Vibe. I am getting one as soon as I can. I contacted Sabbadius about adding a "cancel" switch and within 12 hours, they called back and already had it added. Now, with an additional expression pedal, you can have the same sound as the original Uni-Vibe at a fraction of the price. I will be posting another video of Nic's where he plays his whole Hendrix rig. He just developed his Vox type wah-wah that sounds amazing too. Plus, he has an adjustment knob on his Texas Red Fuzz (silicon) that allows it to be fine tuned so it can be placed after the wah-wah in the chain.

I thought I would let everyone know that I just bought the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Electric Ladyland Box Set and it has a lot of new material that I will hopefully find useful. It also has a 5.1 surround sound Blu-ray CD which I cannot wait to play on my Super Audio system. It also has the full Hollywood Bowl concert, 9/14/68.

Trying to share some vintage equipment with anyone interested and to help anyone that may want to purchase or work on these wonderful electronic devices. Over the past ten years, my channel has expanded into a few other areas. Now, I also occasionally work on Hendrix songs and teach you the techniques that Jimi Hendrix used in his playing. I call these techniques Jimi'isms. I work on getting the Jimi tone by using a smaller amp, the Tweed Bassman, which is the big brother of the very first Marshall amp. Lately, I have been focusing on Jimi's effects pedal and demo fuzzes, Uni-Vibe clones, Echoplexes, wah-wahs and Leslies.
After ten years and almost 800 videos later, I make enough money from Google to pay for strings. If you would like to support my channel, please send your donation to paypal.me/Millstap. I will always try to answer your comments and help you with guitar gear anyway I can. I also help people with amp purchases at www.facebook.com/millstap/.
