Hope everyone's staying safe out there! And also, hope you enjoyed the video! If you did, and want to see the next one before it comes out, consider throwing me a few bucks on Patreon. The second part of this series is already there: www.patreon.com/bigjoel. Anyway have a nice day, and if you read on, you'll see the footnote to the video. . *Footnote*: So, at this point in her video, Chen says a few reasons why one might want to get married, “protection, commitment, and love.” Now, this does kind of look like an argument, but to me, it doesn’t qualify. I don’t know exactly what she means by “protection,” but as far as “commitment” and “love” are concerned, she’s basically just defining what the word “marriage” is. In modern society, everyone knows marriage is a commitment wherein you hopefully love the other person. Everybody, both people who want to get married and people who don’t, accept this as what marriage is. So, what Chen says here does technically qualify as an argument, but it’s a totally vapid one that has literally no persuasive power. A bit like a car salesman telling you, “here’s one reason you might want to buy a car: you can drive cars.”

Multiple studies have shown that people who sleep well don't have insomnia, therefore the cure for insomnia is sleeping well.

PragerU: “get married! Unless you’re gay. Then you’ll never have a good marriage because gay. You want a good marriage, so get married unless gay. No homo.”

I just love the assumption that getting married automatically means having children. Some people marry because they want to make the commitment to each other and don’t feel they need to procreate.

I love how she says "pro-marriage" as if there's an "anti-marriage" movement.

"people in good marriages are statistically happier than those who are not." Ah yes, the floor is made out of floor.

You know, she never mentioned “love.” I guess for Christians, marriage really is just about economics.

The PragerU video does that really unhealthy and straight-up dangerous thing where it implies that not having a kid is the reason you're unhappy, rather than the reason you're unhappy being that you're overworked and can barely afford to live. It implies that having a kid will solve your problems, when in reality, if those problems are economic, having a kid compounds them.

I swear conservatives hate any deviance in women's behaviour from like 60s era gender roles

"Getting married is not politically correct" sure. Sure. That sounds like a real opinion real human beings have.

I love how boomer humour is like 90% saying married life is hell and then christian boomers wonder why people aren't getting married as much.

There's a funnier one aimed at men that goes on and on about how married men make more money, work more hours, devote themselves more to their jobs,etc... It never seems to dawn on the guy narrating the video that having to work 30% more hours because you're responsible for a wife and kids isn't really a good argument for marriage.
