Just saw Phoebe as a part of Boygenius tonight in San Diego with Lucy and Julien and man, it was spectacular. Hardly knew of Lucy or Phoebe prior and really only came at first for Julien, but within 4 hours, I was in adoration and became an instant fan. Sure, sad songs were the breakfast, lunch and dinner of their offerings, yet the chemistry they have together managed to rope the audience in and keep us trudging through the heavy material explored in their songs. Plus, the jokes they spliced in and a particular âair guitarâ moment towards the end of one of their trio songs injected enough humor to keep spirits up and craving for more. These girls are some of the best music has to offer currently and I hope to catch more of them in the future. Especially with Phoebe, if this song will be performed around the holidays!

Comin' back from the country
For the good food and lousy beer
This winter's so dry and the dirt road so dusty
At the lightest fall of rain, the bacteria bloom
[Chorus]
You don't have to be alone to be lonesome
It's easy to forget
The sadness comes crashin' like a brick through the window
And it's Christmas so no one can fix it
[Verse 2]
Tethered to a table with that happy holiday crowd
And it's anchors aweigh
Looks like smooth sailin'
But the merest hint of waves could capsize you
[Chorus]
You don't have to be alone to be lonesome
It's easy to forget
The sadness comes crashin' like a brick through the window
And it's Christmas so no one can fix it
[Bridge]
The desire for annihilation
Is as common as it is unkind
And it's hard to recognize the situation
When you're desperately tryin' to have a good time
[Chorus]
You don't have to be alone to be lonesome
It's easy to forget
The sadness comes crashin' like a brick through the window
And it's Christmas so no one can fix it
[Outro]
Yeah, it's Christmas
So no one can fix it
