Very cool challenge! The Shepherds Delight malt also reminds me of Special B malt we can get here in the U.S. and elsewhere. It's got dark fruit, candy sugar type notes. When you crack a piece open it looks like obsidian due to the caramelized sugars. Might work as either a replacement or supplement to the Extra Special you mentioned in the recipe alternatives.

As usual, awesome video! Random question... Does anyone carbon filter in-line during distillation? I spent about 15 minutes looking for answers and found plenty about carbon filtering liquid, but nothing-zero-zilch about carbon filtering during the vapor phase. Anyone??? Super sorry if you've already made a video about this. If so, what keywords should I use to search? If not, well there ya go. Cheers!

A ready to drink whiskey is something I haven't tried yet. Did my first gin with apple smoked pistachios today, just for that reason... ready to drink. Might have to give it some thought. Good to hear about the good flavours from your Gladfields malt, because I have a batch milled up ready to mash that has black forest rye ( they say it has some similarities to Shepherds delight) as the special guest star, and oats as the star, lol. Good on your lady for giving you a hand (just tell us what you think, no sugar coating š). Thanks for the vid.

I find that the peatier the whisky is, usually the less Iād want to have it at rocket fuel ABVās. Hearing Erinās and your description, maybe just knock the whole batch down. 55 is happy wife ^^ And itād probably still be good on the rocks on a warm summerās eve. Come to think of it; thereās probably a reason (besides money) that hardly any Islayās are that high in alcohol š¤·āā
