It does look MUCH better than when the game launched, but I feel as though that there should be a more fluid transition to the doom state than it is, ESPECIALLY for the Mongoose. Also, why not make it to where to despawn the debris, the vehicles continued to blaze until doing a small explosion to hide the despawning pieces. Just food for thought. Overall, much better.

My feedback:
- Need better visual feedback when actually firing at a vehicle, there's little to no bullet impact effect on most of the vehicles.
- Localized destruction, where if I shoot the front of a ghost it should break the front, you shouldn't see some generic small explosion effect appear over the whole vehicle while it's losing health.
- Destruct, rather that deconstruct - meaning the metal should warp, break, scratch, instead of components popping off like leggo, we need to visually see the damage that's been accumulated through our effort.
- Needs more model grit, even when a warthog/ ghost has exploded it looks like it's still got a fresh coat of paint.
- Don't instantly de-spawn wreckage, I know this is an engine consideration but blowing something up and then fighting around the burnt wreckage is a fun and immersive experience.
- Fire effects look more like red smoke than actual fire, look at Halo 2 for a good example of resource-cheap fire effects, also turning down the size of the fire would also be great as the big fire-smoke effect clipping through destroyed vehicles looks really jarring - less is more.
- Tone down the red glow effect on the 'doomed' feature, the doomed state can be conveyed using flashing lights and the sound alone - I know Halo isn't about realism I personally really don't like how unrealistic and tacky a vehicle looks when it's about to blow up, there's nothing badass about your warthog that you used to cap the flag turning into a big red crayon before it dies.
- Auxiliary sound effects - in previous games when a vehicle explodes you hear an array of sounds, the main explosion, sub-explosions, the sound of hubcaps rolling, metal scrapping, glass breaking, debris colliding. Whereas in Infinite it's just a shallow grenade-like explosion.
- More debris and parts that fall off the vehicle before and during it blowing up.
- More of a personal preference this one, but bring back blue plasma flames for vehicles like the ghost and banshee.
Anyways, those are just my opinion as someone that's played for roughly 20 years - feel free to reply if you disagree with any of them :)

Itās hard to tell the difference, it would have been probably better to see a comparison between the old explosions and the new ones, but they do seem a bit better.
The real question is how does the Phantom explosion look, since that might be one of the worst aspects to the campaign. Which is funny considering thereās an entire segment of a level dedicated to destroying them.

They definitely look better but Iād love if the the blown up model stayed around for longer. Maybe stay on fire for 10 seconds and then disappear around 25? I feel like them poofing out of existence so fast really reduces the impact they have on the game play.
More damage states would be nice too. The warthog in Halo infinite is awesome with how busted it can get before it explodes, but most of the other vehicles donāt have that same effect.
I also think that the doomsday mechanic doesnāt fit the sandbox. Iād much rather have the game show me that the vehicle is on its last leg than force me to get out of it because it turns red and explodes.

With the realtime lighting system, it would be nice to see a bright point light for a few frames as a vehicle explodes.
No matter how good even the halo 3 explosions looked, they were still just a particle effect and behind all that bloom the environment is still the same as it was before. It would be really cool if they took advantage of the modern lighting system to make explosions actually light up the environment around them for a split second. Maybe even cast some basic shadows if it's performant enough.
The game already lights up the entire screen if your looking near the explosion, but it's just a basic filter. Imagine seeing a bright flash around a corner or across a map while you hear a vehicle explode. Idk, I think it would be neat

I like what I see but a few points I noticed:
1- Vehicles are still shiny when destroyed? Like make them look burned or scratched or something idk.
2- Ghost is cool, but I wish the seat would explode and detatch from the engine.
3- Similar point for wasp, wish the tail would detatch.
But overall good stuff! We now know definitevly when a vehicle went kaput.

UNSC explosions look much better, but Banished vehicles still lack a more "alien" explosion compared to previous games. It's not just the ghost freakout, but the blue flames as well. I get that the banished colors are red, but the blue explosions and flames really add to it.
Also I'm still not sold on doomed states.

What I've noticed is a lot of the new explosions are actually really good. Like the Warthog, Wraith, and Banshee.
But the glowing orange aura around the vehicles right before they explode takes away from it so much.
Also some of the vehicles are REALLY lacking in showing visible damage like the ghost and wraith.

Honestly a lot of them aren't bad (except for the ghost), it just seems like the doom state idea for "visual clarity" has resulted in a vehicle that explodes all at once, instead of parts flying off bit-by-bit. A good explosion needs a story, a beginning middle and end. Unfortunately it just kinda... happens in infinite.
Also props to the slapstick-esque wheels rolling away in the bungie games. Those guys know where to add levity to action.

I always loved how crunchy the sounds were in Halo 3 Edit: and how weightless and slow motion-y the explosion and pieces flying off were Edit 2: and how the explosions had a buildup of multiple pieces flying off in sequence as opposed to Infiniteās sudden āpop!ā Bungieās explosions sounded like a bunch of desktop computers being crushed by a compactor, while 343ās sound like 1 little firework just went off
