While Jackie Chan is without a doubt one of the most famous and beloved actors on the planet, most don't know about the tragic story of his son, Jaycee Chan. The little-know Chinese pop singer, who still fails to break through, has suffered a descent into hell in recent years. Between an unsuccessful film career and a stay in prison, Jaycee has been unable to live up to the high standards set by his famous father.

This is, The Tragic Tale of Jackie Chan's Son

Jackie Chan really said he was never home to help raise his child and wondered out loud why his kid wasn't more like him.

It's good knowing that Jacee isn't just sitting around doing nothing. Even after all the disappointments from his films, he's not quitting. Respect.

The fact that Jackie blamed his son's issues on his wife and providing for his son and not on the fact that he was absent aa a father is really sad and shows a lack of true reflection and self- awareness. He was upset that his son lacked discipline but he wasn't around to teach it to him.

Jackey wishing for his son to be a doctor, engineer or lawyer is the most Asian thing I have heard today.

He doesn't seem like such a bad kid. Just spoiled, which wasn't exactly his fault. The pressure of living up to being a model son of one of the most well-known people in China is something I can't imagine.

What you forgot mentioning here is Jackie Chan also cheated a lot on his wife. Jaycee said in his interview that "I saw my mom crying secretly in her washroom, but she did not choose to divorce him and endured the fragile marriage because she wanted to raise me to be a better person." I feel bad for Jaycee and his mother. Of course, she has her part in his son's upbringing, but you gotta admit that she was also a victim of Jackie Chan's selfishness.

This isn't a video about a bad son, this is a video about a bad father

There's a bit of irony in this whole thing. Jackie's work ethics is why he has become so successful, but it's also a factor as to why Jaycee grew up the way he did. He was too busy doing his own thing and didn't give the proper time and guidance to his own son.

Jesus. Never knew that Jackie Chan had a son, let alone the life he had to live. Sunny is the only YouTuber I can watch do an entire presentation about a person I know nothing about

A neglectful dad is worse than an absent one. Not knowing your dad is hard but knowing him and seeing that he doesn’t care about you at all is even harder. 2 weeks a year. That’s torture to a child.

Jackie's humility becomes hubris. He doesnt realize that his belief of himself doing the "normal amount of work" or something "anyone can do" just isn't ordinary. He's forced his son to live in his shadow without ever giving him the lessons he learned growing up. You can't expect everyone to be just like you.

I honestly feel bad for Jaycee. Living in the shadow of your father your whole life isn’t easy at all.

Imagine growing up with a dad who pops up for 2 weeks refuses to take you outside then says bye son see you in a year 😂 that’s enough to mess anybody’s head up.

Jaycee sounds like he was a normal teenager and Jackie had extremely high expectations of him. I think this attitude of always being disappointed in your son was a bigger problem than the comfortable upbringing Jackie provided

I read it somewhere that 'There is nothing worse than a man who can be everything for everbody else ,except a father to his own child.'

Hot take: If Jackie Chan only interacted with his son for two weeks out of every year, not only does he have no right to complain about how he turned out, but it's also his fault. He clearly had enough money to turn down a few movies, he could have made time to raise his son right, he could have implemented the discipline he constantly talked about, but he didn't.

I was born in Eastern Europe in a communist country. Started working very young, working 12 hours, 6 days a week for 5-10% of what people in the west would call a low salary. Had to fight comunism, demons and a corrupt system that wants us dead, all just to survive. This being said my heart cries in pain when I hear about the tragedy of this milionare kid and his mega rich dad, that didn't get to enjoy all his dreams becoming a reality. I was worried about getting food but now I understand that fate shielded me of the real tragedies of life like not becoming a superstar, on top of life giving you one of the most privileged positions a human can have. Heart breaking, I tell you! Also, 50 Cent is just as good of a father as Jackie. He was never there for his son, he left his wife raise him and now he blames the kid... The children education also falls on the shoulders of the father. A father is not just a provider, that's a slave master. A father is mentor, a guide, a support and a protector. It takes a new level of ignorance to throw money at your kid and expect them to grow into decent humans. 50 Cent and Jackie are both terrible fathers and terrible humans for blaming their kids for their inability to be real men and guide those children...

Can relate this to my own life. Growing up in my father’s shadow with him being a Jackie Chan in his own careers. Never having to worry about tomorrow and then suddenly taking that away from me when my father left and for my parents to expect me to just figure out life on my own. Even tho my dad still financially supports me it still isn’t enough. No money could amount to just spending time with me and teaching my life lessons that would help me grow. Now I am lost with no direction in life. Not knowing what I want to do. Never had the emotional and genuine support from both of my parents. They only told me to do good in school but never any life lessons.
