Thanks Karik, great content as always. Had a thought when you showed the live service survey from devs. I couldn't fathom quitting gaming as a kid growing up in the 80's and to this day i'm still a gamer, but a much pickier one as the years tick away. As I've gotten older, my list of games I'm excited for just keeps getting shorter. The older I get I can't help but realize how games are predominantly being built for much younger gamers and their interests, which includes Live service. Seeing this survey in the video was a little depressing , I have to admit. At the end of the day I always try to keep an open mind, even with games that get trashed, as I know I'm not in the majority with the average gamer's interests.

The problem with live service games is content roadmaps are not guaranteed to even happen. Like what if the game doesn't sell enough at launch, or what if the player base dies down, or what if the remaining players don't buy the premium currency/battlepass enough to continue funding the devs making the game. If any one of those issues happen support by the devs is most likely going to get pulled even though they already have people's money. Let's just be real, live service games are a less buggy/more polished early access game.

I'll be honest as an xbox player since the beginning, if they don't have exclusive games/content, I don't need the hardware or gamepass. I'll buy a playstation or play my nintendo...occasionally I'll buy a game like elderscrolls. I have enjoyed xbox, but if they go this route in the short term it will be more profitable. Long term the brand will die. Just when I thought xbox had things figured out.

Although exclusives can be divisive, they sell consoles. If Microsoft do go multiplat, I think that’s the end of the Xbox console. They will be the new Sega. Explains why they bought Activision now. They are so focused on Gamepass it wouldn’t surprise me. There is no way, Sony will do the same.

This turned from a normal random small news video to a wild back and forth. Hope you all can show up for the podcast or watch it where we break down the awesome report on games as a service and MS and all that. www.patreon.com/AngryCentaurGaming
