Glad to see you mix them together at the end. That has been the thing that I am always saying to the screen on many of your videos and how all the big boys do it. Take the flavor notes for all of your bottles, pick out interesting flavors, and blend those combinations. Got something with too much of a single flavor? Use a little of it to punch up that flavor in other things that lack it. The blending is the leg that almost no channel ever talks about or shows, but is the key to getting the best results.

The way to make any average booze great is to have 5 of them. By the third it’s quite nice, and by the 5th it’s amazing. That fix also works for pints of low quality beer and glasses of low quality plonk.

Instantly reminded of the "scotch" blending scene in "Mr. Roberts"

I did finally get to experience Jesses description of the tails as “Wet dog/ old cardboard” 😂 holy shit I’m glad he said that so many times because I could smell it coming off the still and the cloudy liquor was a give away too

Did something a few years ago with a UJSCM using Still Spirits Blended Whiskey essence & glycerine at 5ml per ltr of both. Definite improvement mixed

I'd actually like to see you remake that ujssm and see what you would do differently

I haven't tried these retail essences and I'm unlikely to in the future. I do, however, enjoy trying my own natural flavor adjustments, switching or combining woods, adding vanilla bean, cinnamon, clove in very small quantities to an aging jar. I plan to try some dark caramel in the near future. I have a Ten-30 barrel (wine cask wood) soaking in a little sherry to be used in a future single malt.

I used fruit essences to "polish" my fruit brandy attempts. Just a bit to round up the flavour, way less than suggested on the label for neutral. No extra sugar needed and very enjoyable... will use it for my ongoing rum experiment and if I ever go for Whisky, I'll give it a shot as well...

Nice one mate! :) I have a question, what do you do with the things you make that doesnt turn out great? Because I have been playing around with a bunch of spiced rum and a thing that I like to call Rumaretto. And they are all kind of nice, but not great. It often turns out a bit to sweet. My thoughts with it, is that if I dont like the different spiced rums and what not, was to chuck it back in the still with my next rum run, thinking that since its spiced it might bring some interesting flavours to a new rum destillate, but then again I am a bit worried that it might mess things up. And it would be a real shame to ruin stripping runs from 110 liters of rum wash with some shady basement spiced rum :D Any thoughts? Cheers mate!

G'day from Lismore, Off subject. I just finished watching your vid on distilling vodka, your favourite and a sea weed gin. my question is why don't you put all your botanicals into a blender and powder then add to the vodka to infuse etc. Lionel the beginner Alchemist.
