I’ve listened to the original B-side recording for the last 14 years, and I have to say, I love this updated version that has more of an instrumental and parts of different takes in certain places. It really amplifies the youthful nature she utilized in her debut album, while still showing off her vocal talent.

This version of Why was played by radio before. I heard this 2 or 3 times on radio but then they suddenly stopped playing it and replaced it with the acoustic live version, which was released as one of the tracks from her My World DVD. I was looking for this version on Youtube and on the internet for years, but couldnt find it. Im glad that they released it with the other songs. Happy 20th Anniversary!

A lot of ppl doesnt know this song was the reason LA Reid noticed Avril. He was passing by the studio where she was singing this song and immediatly wanted to know her and saw something in her. Not many time went by after that and she got a record deal and we all know the rest. So in a sense Why is a very important song
