It's amazing what changing the instrument from piano to one of my favorite strings, the cello, and guitar and slowing and softening the music and your voice does to the song. It puts me in a completely different mind space. It's another gentle song, but somehow this one seems less vulnerable than the original even with that one being more forceful than this one. The character seems to have a quiet strength here, while in the original version, she seems more like she's putting on a front. I don't know, that's what I get from it. I love that you are doing this two versions business. I really like the reinterpretations, because I end up loving both versions, the old favorite and the new, challenging changes with your voice that has matured. It was a little odd not having the piano at all, since that seems to be your signature instrument, but I thought it was cool to see you stepping away from that, too, another challenge to stretch you music to new horizons, I am guessing. Great job, Beth. I really love what you have been doing. I kind of wonder in another decade if you will revisit your current new music then. Well, hopefully you'll have sold millions of albums by then and won't have time for it. 🌟
