This hits on a deep level. Not that anyone asked, but it's crushing to be so close to someone and then see them change into someone you know they (the version of them you knew) would never want to be... I once new a girl, fell in love even, to someone who fought for what she believed in, and stood proud of who she was, but after college ended, I watched her get into some bad stuff through her posts on facebook... turning into everything she stood against... and I know that she made those choices, but it still hurts...

I don't know this book but the song sound epic. I interpret it as a soldier/friend and a leader/king. The friend watched the leader win battle after battle and craving more power. He worships him but is seeing him change for the worse and afraid he may end up dead. I know Achilles is greek but this might as well be about soldiers in the roman empire. Love that
