Dave spends a good chunk of the year at his bungalow at 4 Seasons, Hawaii island - which is the island I live on. Whenever he needs gear, he usually comes into my music shop. He's always been really, really nice to us. The first time he came in, I said "Hey! I know you! You're that judge from American Idol!" and he laughed his ass off.
One time he even signed my Kurt Cobain signature Jaguar guitar for me. ..and I randomly found out later that he usually has a "no autographs" policy due to e-Bay sellers. He didn't have any attitude whatsoever. He just commented on how beautiful the guitar was.
I obviously don't actually know the guy, but in my personal experience, he's a really nice, down to earth dude. (Unless you're unvaxxed, apparently. Lmao)

Kurt and Dave's relationship had strains, but that's common in any relationship where two people care about each other. People fight, but it doesn't mean they don't love each other. It's the opposite. In an interview, Dave was asked what one item he would save from his house if it caught fire. He said a letter Kurt wrote to him in 1992.
"Probably this letter I got from Kurt in 1992. That sounds terribly melodramatic, but itâs true. I lose everything: passports, wallets, car keys, credit cards, but that letter is absolutely irreplaceable. He wrote it to me when everything was going nuts. We were all living in different places- he was in Los Angeles, I was in Virginia and Krist was in Seattle- and some decisions were being made without me. I got really bummed out and Kurt sent me this letter about my role and stature in the band. It was all, âI love you like a brother.â It was just before we did âIn Uteroâ and it said, âI canât wait to get back in the studio and make a record so we can whittle ourselves back down to a comfortable level,â Which of course never really happened.â
Even through ups and downs, I know they cared for each other.

Not a fan of FF myself but all I've ever seen from Grohl is a man that has gentleman class and is very friendly and grounded. All bands fall out, that's the world they're in and choose to be in. Imagine touring for months on and off stage, partying, lack of sleep, missing your kids and being homesick etc and gotta put up with 3 or more other guys feeling the same way LOL. Ultimate tension.

When Nirvana played in Belfast, N.Ireland back in the early 90s, my brother's friend was helping his disabled brother into the Nirvana concert as they didn't have proper disabled access at that time. My brother waited outside with his friend's dog. The security guards were prejudiced, and didn't like that my brother and his friend were punk rockers. They decided that my brother's friend had stayed inside too long (he wanted to check out the start of the gig) and the security came in, dragged him out and beat him.
Dave Grohl and Krist were outside having a smoke, and they saw this happen. They brought my brother, his friend, and their dog backstage, and Courtney Love ended up looking after the dog while they enjoyed the concert. My brother came home and bragged about it to me, because he knew what a massive Nirvana fan I was! Mean! He said that Dave and Krist were really nice guys, but that Kurt wasn't that friendly (I think he was suffering from withdrawal and had a 'sore stomach'). I still have the 'sell the kids for food tour' all access pass from that concert.
Apparently Courtney Love really liked my brother's friend's wooly jumper, which he had bought for a few quid in a thrift store in Belfast. She bought it from him for ÂŁ60 to give to Kurt. It was a red and black striped wooly jumper. You know the one.

I think 'never put down an artist' is a great philosophy. Sometimes, there are exceptionally bad cases where people write songs that are legitimately bad intentioned or have a blatantly shitty message but that's extremely rare. You never know how someone might grow and maybe they will be one of your champions some day

I met him at a cvs in 2015. He was one of my idols, heâs the reason I started playing drums. So of course I was stars-trucked. I eventually built up the courage to approach him and ask him for a picture, and he said âno sorryâ. I was mortified and embarrassed, but I just told him ok sorry, just wanted to say youâre the reason I play drums and Iâm one of the biggest Nirvana fans, and he said thank you and shook my hand. I always wonder why he didnât just take the picture, would not have taken a lot. Whatever

"Don't say anything bad about a fellow artist..."
Well said.
Music appreciation is like "what's your favorite color?" Some days, shades of green. Some days blue. It's all realitive. You dig yours, and I'll dig mine... Maybe we can do it together.
Staying away from drugs, ego, and criticism makes music better - FOR EVERYONE.
Keep shredding...
... I will.

This video should be called âBandmates that had occasional problems with Dave Grohlâ.
