I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.

Kurt Cobain - Despite impressing Cobain and Novaselic with his drumming chops and becoming one of the biggest drummers of the 90’s with his work on Nevermind and In-Utero, Cobain and Grohl’s relationship went through a lot of ups and downs. Grohl would be the band’s sixth drummer by the time he joined the group. By the time Grohl joined the group in 1990 the band already released their debut record Bleach and were wanting a new drummer with Cobain telling an interviewer Krist [Novoselic] and I have been playing together for about four and a half years now with a few different drummers. Dave has been in the band for about a year. This is the first time we've felt like a very definite unit. The band is finally complete because all the other drummers we had pretty much sucked." Despite musically sharing similar interests there was always a feeling of tension even from the early days as Grohl told the big issue in 2021 , "When I first met Kurt [Cobain] and Krist ... musically, it was a match made in heaven. But personally, it was a bit off, to be honest. Of course we loved each other. We were friends. But, you know, there was a dysfunction in Nirvana that a band like Foo Fighters doesn't have.

Taylor Hawkins - Despite being the best of friends the bandmates also had some bumpy times, most notably during the recording of the group’s fourth album One by One. It was in 2001 the band was out on the road playing some shows in Europe when Hawkins suffered a near fatal overdose following a gig. In the documentary Back and Forth Hawkins revealed that once the band assembled to record One by One the band was not gelling in the studios and Grohl was splitting his time between the Foo’s and playing drums in Queens of the Stone Age. Grohl was upset that Hawkins hadn’t seen him play in Queens of the Stone Age and Hawkins was upset that Grohl was acting selfish. The band would play Coachella in 2002 and planned for the gig to be their last. But following the gig, the band gave recording their fourth album another shot and the band kept going for the next two decades.

The Cult - Unbeknownst to a lot of people there existed some bad blood between The Cult and Dave Grohl. It all stemmed from an interview Grohl gave around the year 2000 when the cult were working on their comeback album Beyond Good and Evil. Grohl told alternative press that around the new millennium he went to concert the Cult were playing on a dare. He would add he thought the band’s music was overprioduced and their live show was so tortuous he wanted to shoot himself. The Cult frontman Ian Astbury got wind of the comments and it was during the recording of Beyond Good and Evil they had tentatively titled one song ‘Bring Me The Head of Dave Grohl.’ The members of the Cult were taken aback by the comments considering they were big fans of Grohl. They of course didn’t use the title when the song came out. Then 16 years later while the Cult and Foo Fighters were playing the same festival on the same day in Portugal Astbury revealed Grohl buried the hatchet telling vanyaland:

“He walked into our dressing room, walked straight up to me, and said, ‘Hi, I’m David Grohl. It’s really nice to meet you. Because I’m not sure what happened in the past, but hopefully we can put all that behind us, and I just want to say great to meet you.’
I shook the man’s hand. I have no problem with him. He’s an incredible artist. There’s room for everybody. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. But don’t put down a fellow artist, ever. I’m sure there have been times when I’ve said slight things about artists and later have gone away and gone, like, ‘Why did I say that? Was I jealous? Was it just a brain fart?'”

This video should be called “Bandmates that had occasional problems with Dave Grohl”.

Dave spends a good chunk of the year at his bungalow at 4 Seasons, Hawaii island - which is the island I live on. Whenever he needs gear, he usually comes into my music shop. He's always been really, really nice to us. The first time he came in, I said "Hey! I know you! You're that judge from American Idol!" and he laughed his ass off. One time he even signed my Kurt Cobain signature Jaguar guitar for me. ..and I randomly found out later that he usually has a "no autographs" policy due to e-Bay sellers. He didn't have any attitude whatsoever. He just commented on how beautiful the guitar was. I obviously don't actually know the guy, but in my personal experience, he's a really nice, down to earth dude. (Unless you're unvaxxed, apparently. Lmao)

Kurt and Dave's relationship had strains, but that's common in any relationship where two people care about each other. People fight, but it doesn't mean they don't love each other. It's the opposite. In an interview, Dave was asked what one item he would save from his house if it caught fire. He said a letter Kurt wrote to him in 1992. "Probably this letter I got from Kurt in 1992. That sounds terribly melodramatic, but it’s true. I lose everything: passports, wallets, car keys, credit cards, but that letter is absolutely irreplaceable. He wrote it to me when everything was going nuts. We were all living in different places- he was in Los Angeles, I was in Virginia and Krist was in Seattle- and some decisions were being made without me. I got really bummed out and Kurt sent me this letter about my role and stature in the band. It was all, ‘I love you like a brother.’ It was just before we did ‘In Utero’ and it said, ‘I can’t wait to get back in the studio and make a record so we can whittle ourselves back down to a comfortable level,’ Which of course never really happened.” Even through ups and downs, I know they cared for each other.

If that’s the worst issues DG has had in his career, it’s safe to say he’s a pretty chill dude

I like Foo Fighters, though wouldn't call myself a fan, but Dave Grohl does come across as a totally good, normal person who would be easy and pleasant to hang with.

Not a fan of FF myself but all I've ever seen from Grohl is a man that has gentleman class and is very friendly and grounded. All bands fall out, that's the world they're in and choose to be in. Imagine touring for months on and off stage, partying, lack of sleep, missing your kids and being homesick etc and gotta put up with 3 or more other guys feeling the same way LOL. Ultimate tension.

To be fair I get the Noel thing. It must be crazy frustrating to have millions constantly telling you to reunite with someone you can’t stand, Dave obviously loves Oasis but should’ve respected that

When Nirvana played in Belfast, N.Ireland back in the early 90s, my brother's friend was helping his disabled brother into the Nirvana concert as they didn't have proper disabled access at that time. My brother waited outside with his friend's dog. The security guards were prejudiced, and didn't like that my brother and his friend were punk rockers. They decided that my brother's friend had stayed inside too long (he wanted to check out the start of the gig) and the security came in, dragged him out and beat him. Dave Grohl and Krist were outside having a smoke, and they saw this happen. They brought my brother, his friend, and their dog backstage, and Courtney Love ended up looking after the dog while they enjoyed the concert. My brother came home and bragged about it to me, because he knew what a massive Nirvana fan I was! Mean! He said that Dave and Krist were really nice guys, but that Kurt wasn't that friendly (I think he was suffering from withdrawal and had a 'sore stomach'). I still have the 'sell the kids for food tour' all access pass from that concert. Apparently Courtney Love really liked my brother's friend's wooly jumper, which he had bought for a few quid in a thrift store in Belfast. She bought it from him for ÂŁ60 to give to Kurt. It was a red and black striped wooly jumper. You know the one.

If Dave was truly problematic you wouldn't see him guest drumming or singing by request with other performers or on all the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. He's clearly well respected for good reasons.

I think 'never put down an artist' is a great philosophy. Sometimes, there are exceptionally bad cases where people write songs that are legitimately bad intentioned or have a blatantly shitty message but that's extremely rare. You never know how someone might grow and maybe they will be one of your champions some day

I met him at a cvs in 2015. He was one of my idols, he’s the reason I started playing drums. So of course I was stars-trucked. I eventually built up the courage to approach him and ask him for a picture, and he said “no sorry”. I was mortified and embarrassed, but I just told him ok sorry, just wanted to say you’re the reason I play drums and I’m one of the biggest Nirvana fans, and he said thank you and shook my hand. I always wonder why he didn’t just take the picture, would not have taken a lot. Whatever

There is no drama in Foo Fighters because it's Dave Grohl's band and he decides everything, and anyone who has a problem with that gets kicked out.

So this video has nothing to do with rockstars who hate Dave or the Foo Fighters.

"Don't say anything bad about a fellow artist..." Well said. Music appreciation is like "what's your favorite color?" Some days, shades of green. Some days blue. It's all realitive. You dig yours, and I'll dig mine... Maybe we can do it together. Staying away from drugs, ego, and criticism makes music better - FOR EVERYONE. Keep shredding... ... I will. ✌️😎
