I am an Australian Indian who got into heavy metal way back in 1991 while in high school in India listening to bands like Panthera, W.A.S.P, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Soundgarden. Metal scene in India is NOT new. Back in the '90s, metal releases that came out in Cassettes and CDs in India used to get sold out within days of release. We even had a metal magazine called "Rock Street Journal" which use to cover and promote Indian metal bands and international ones.
I attended the live performance of the well-known '90s Indian metal band called "Millennium" back in '96. Interestingly the guitarist of that band was a neurosurgeon. Am a doctor myself and did med school in Bangalore back in the late '90s. I am in near tears now watching this! Thanks so much Karl for covering this.

Hey Karl, I am watching this video from Beirut-Lebanon. My name is lilas and I am the guitarist and founder of the only all women metal band in the region called Slave To Sirens. First of all, Thank you for covering Bangalore open air! You put a smile on my face when you said you paid for your tickets, it shows the kind of human you are, and it is really a great thing to do! Second, I met Salman of Bangalore with is wife back in Germany after we performed in Wacken open air 2019, and I have to say that has was a really nice guy and friendly. I hope if you get to visit the middle eat one day, we would be having a show or festival you can attend. Thanks again for this video, cheers \\V//
