As a rock climber, I believe it to be the ultimate hobby. Rock climbing can be social, as you can meet other people and be open. Rock climbing can be solo if you just don't make conversation with other people. Its also a mental hobby, as you have to use your brain to plan out your moves. Finally, rock climbing is also very physical, as you literally just climb shit. you can also meet some rock climbing baddies

A nice hobby I had 10 or something years ago was Warhammer 40k. Yeah, nerdy stuff, but I became friends with some cool guys that I only knew slightly (we were always hanging out and having lots of fun together), it had the mental aspect of learning all the rules and applying them during a game, I was addicted to painting the miniatures...
It had a lot of aspects.
Nowadays I'm into more physical stuff, like going to the gym or learning golf

This is why I've been so keen to get more involved into the Warhammer 40K hobby. It isn't just something that I enjoy but something that encompasses many of the needs that have been raised here. Painting minis, wargaming and bonding over the lore with friends cover the Solo, Social and Mental aspects of having a good hobby.
I myself really enjoy my quiet me time, but always felt it was just being wasted either watching YT aimlessly or just thinking about my interests without actually acting upon them constructively. Choosing, building and painting an army is extremely satisfying. You learn so many new skills and plus you can go at your own pace. I myself find it very soothing to just sit back and paint out a couple of minis, improving my painting skills. At the same time painting with friends is just as fun and it really helps building off other people's knowledge. Funnily enough it is helping me develop my fine motor skills in ways that other things just don't.
Socially it's fun to go out and catch up with some friends to build together or play a game. Like going to a gym your sharing your struggles and giving tips.
Keeping on top of all the rules and playing the game is something that I'm still quite the beginner at. I've played plenty of RTSs in my time but there is something so different about using units that you have personally made. Physically moving the models and see things from every angle really does add to the experience. You think of things far more 3 dimensionally compared to a video game. It's a tactical game, very different to chess, as there are counters, abilities and terrain features, but none the less mentally stimulating.
Defiantly need to keep other hobbies on the side. Physically this isn't going to do much for you unless your going to start a crusade with your local PDF against the foul xenos. Another physical hobby I haven't seen mentioned here too much is bike riding. You don't even need to go mountain riding. It's a sport you can do solo or in a group and gets your self worked out while getting to see the world around you.
When I was just getting started with 40K I was only interested in the lore. Now I'm building my own custom Space Marine and Tyrranid armies. For those in the know, eventually, I know I will make my own Necrons and Adepta Sororitas army. But that's years away. If your looking for a hobby but are a bit more nerdy like I am have a look into it. It's very fulfilling and there is I think something there for everyone.
Shoutout to all my Warhammer brothers and Sisters of Battle.
