I've been married to a narcissistic person for 29 years, and I've only seen him make small c changes, and those changes did not last. I've made big C changes over and over to keep the peace, and I'm a shell of the person I once was. Please do not make the mistake I did in thinking my spouse would one day "grow up."

A narcissist may change their clothes, their victims, their facades...but they don't change. It's important we remember that we will always be too much - or not enough - for the wrong people. Anxiety over our relationships subsides where our authenticity abides. Find those who will connect with your authentic selves

Yup. He punished me for his having to make any "small c" change. Ex.: he would pause the TV to "listen" to me talk about something after work, but he would give me a dirty look while doing it as if it was a huge, painful sacrifice for him even though he spent the whole day watching TV while I was working.

Thank you Dr. Ramani for educating us all on narcissism! As a therapist myself. I didn't understand it until I started watching your videos. I have had luck with one narcissist client who wanted to change. He was highly motivated because his wife was his favorite source of supply, and he didn't want to lose her. His change was accomplished through psychedelics and consistent inner child work. I don't think traditional talk therapy by itself is enough to change any narcissist.

Narcissists do change. They change their mind, their story, their supply, their manipulation tactics, their masks, and the channel you’re watching when they want to watch what they want.
