Didn't know these would become the focuses of the film:
* The mom is pregnant in late 1997 and gives birth to the baby in mid-1998. The baby is about 10 months in 1999.
* The actor of the boyfriend is about 22, I believe. He is not old at all.

It's interesting that the short film didn't exactly labeled the character, so that the LGBTQ+ community as a whole could be able to relate to them and their struggles, without having to limit the story to only a part of the community by specifying their sexuality/identity. Really appreciate that :)

Iā€™m straight as fuck but like damn, this was sad. I wish trans and gay and all LGBT people happy lives, and though it may not always be happy, I hope you all can find your true selves.

Iā€™m asexual and I remember growing up thinking ā€œwhen Iā€™m a mommyā€ all the time. Iā€™ve come out to both parents, but my mom doesnā€™t like that Iā€™m asexual. Dad doesnā€™t really understand but he supports me, and Iā€™m so grateful for him

Being born in 1958, and figuring out that I liked boys, the way I was supposed to like girls, in 1963, I learned how I had to pretend at a very early age. Yeah, I was only five years old when I knew. I also already knew my feelings were unacceptable. So... I pretended to be something that I was incapable of being for more than fifty years. I pretended for so long that I never really learned how to be me. All I knew, was how to pretend. Nobody should ever have to feel like they have to pretend like that. Most people like me feel they must pretend for at least several years in order to survive. It just hurts thinking you must always pretend. This is a good short film. Hope it helps a lot of young people.

I just feel like there's smarter ways to pretend you're straight than paying someone FORTY DOLLARS to pretend to be your boyfriend while in highschool. Like maybe for example say that you're not dating because you're focusing on school. That's FREE

coming out to my mom was a nightmare, she absolutely hated it, she hated what i was, she hated having to respect me, she hated having something like me under her roof, it was agonizing

My daughter played with barbies and American girl dolls and at 12 told me she was bi. I told her just to be sure even though I felt it and knew it because if you know your kids you can tell before they tell you. Now she's 16 and has had bfs and gfs and I prefer the gfs because I don't have to worry about grandbabies lol. I chose my daughter's happiness over the views of others.

Something I donā€™t like is how people say ā€œcoming out is easy because itā€™s more known nowā€ but it isnā€™t. I love this short :)

I love how at the end she switches around the dolls so the girls sit next to each other and the guys also sit next to each other

When I was growing up people only used the word gay or its synonyms as a pejorative, slur, or insult. I didn't even know what the word actually meant until I was in my teens, and was generally very ignorant about anything LGBT related until I was well into my 20s. I didn't know bisexuality was a thing, and this caused me great difficulty in figuring myself out as a person. I always had an excuse for my attraction to other boys. "I can't be gay, I'm attracted to girls!" Or "it's just curiosity" or "plenty of other straight guys must experiment with gay porn and just not talk about it". After educating myself, doing a lot of deep personal reflection, and a lot of working up the nerve to do it I came out as bi about a year ago. It's incredible to me how much more accepting and educated people are becoming over time and how quickly it's happening. I know there's still a lot more work to be done, but the difference between now and 30 years ago is night and day. My heart goes out to all of you who go through the hell of having a homophobic family or live in a predominantly homophobic place. Hold onto the hope that things will continue to improve. Stay strong friends!
