While I wasn't the biggest fan of The Car, you really have to respect the balls on them just do whatever they want and experiment however they please regardless of their older catalogue. Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino really showed how talented the band are, they can sound different in every album and STILL sound great.

As a filmmaking student, the last two albums from the Monkeys have honestly made want to shoot a movie in 8mm.

The way I see it, Alex Turner has probably realised that he's taken the Arctic Monkeys as far as he could and is content with making music he's happy with even if it means appealing to a smaller audience They covered the garage/indie rock that was popular at the time with their first two albums. They experimented for a few years with Humbug and Suck it and See and then blew up internationally with AM. Alex also went on the record that he experienced a lot of writers block when working on TBHC and couldn't really find inspiration in the guitar dominated music they were known for, hence why TBHC was such a massive change for the band When you think about it, Arctic Monkeys have pretty much already done it all at this point and don't really have anything left to prove. They can show that they can make popular rock albums while also being capable of being experimental and more creative when they want to I'd rather they continued to make interesting projects like Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino and The Car, even if the results are mixed rather than go on a long hiatus or try and poorly replicate the sound of their older albums

I actually fell in love with Tranquillity base hotel and casino album 4 years after it was released. I was probably not mature enough to realise how beautiful it is

Very glad The Puppets finally get some credit for evolving the monkeys sound. After every puppets album the monkeys sound changes drastically, it’s clear the break from the usual formula inspired Alex to experiment more.

I'm hoping 'Sculptures of anything goes' is the clue to what AM will do next, full Triphop, portishead, massive attack style.

Suck it and See is hugely underrated and that's a hill I'm gonna continue to die on. Like I get that it's their least popular because of its sonic simplicity, but the more stripped back sound really brought focus to his lyrics, and imo it has the best writing of any Arctic Monkeys album. He just found this perfect balance between being relatable and genuine, and pretentious and abstract, without veering into the more pop-oriented hooks that AM has.

I saw them live yesterday. It’s just amazing to experience all their albums mixed into one setlist. Body Paint live was absolutely beautiful 🥹

Some of my friends said that "The Car" was almost like a musical film in album form, and I thought that was brilliant.

The thing that draws me to the Arctic Monkeys the most, is the lyrics. The songs seem so emotional and so poetic, I can’t help loving every album they have made. Not to mention the instrumental side of it, just wow haha.

505 and I Wanna Be Yours are probably the two most perfect album closers they've ever written. I feel as if I'm floating everytime I here the ending to AM, it's just so magical

I’ve been listening to this album every day before work. It’s the very definition of a grower and I don’t think a lot of fans understand that. I remember it was the same for me when Humbug was released.

They are undeniably my favorite band. I think the car is an absolute masterpiece. Imo I truly think they're one of the best bands to ever exist. Every sound, every change, is just so perfect.

I can’t thank you enough for making this video and explaining their evolution so well. Arctic monkeys are without a doubt my favorite band and all of their albums are brilliant in their own way. By evolving their sound and taking risks they’re cementing their status as a truly great band and I think in the future we will look back at them as a legendary group. I think their new sound is so unique and interesting and it’s a shame a lot of people don’t appreciate it just because it’s not as immediately catchy as some of their older songs. I’m definitely going to show this video to my friends who don’t like their recent albums because I think it gives a brilliant context to the sound of each era and makes you think about why they did certain things at certain points of their career. I’m fascinated to see what they’ll do next and I’m sure it’s gonna be incredible because they’re just an amazing group of musicians 🎸

THANK YOU! for acknowledging TLSP! I feel like it’s totally unfair that so many listeners treat the shift in arctic monkey’s sound as being so drastic when it’s really been kind of a steady progression, especially when you compare ‘everything you’ve come to expect’ with TBH&C.

This is why I would consider the Arctic Monkeys as one of the best bands of the modern era, if not of all time. I personally feel they do not have a bad song and that although there are low and high points throughout the albums, I wouldn't say there's an album or a song that I don't like, which can't be said for my other favourite bands. I feel that in 50-70 years time we will be looking back on the Arctic Monkeys' catalouge with respect and awe much like we do the great bands from the 60s and 70s.

I agree that change is good. The idea of being artistically different from one idea to the next can be refreshing. I mean that more so on an album. Music is about passion and creativity.
