I've been trying to calculate a lot of this but really fall short of what some people can theorize. What I've noticed is with the odd things some demons say, such as Lilith, I'm led to believe that the reason X demons attacked rank 2's in the first place was that Yuki ranked up. Lilith was clearly aware that this was going to happen, considering her conversation with Mama Cat. She even sounded involved, which might have been because she ranked Yuki up, which by the sounds of it might have originally been on purpose to change the cleansing (though now she's upset with how things turned out). There's also the thing about the prophecy as well. We were told in the first season that there exists a rank 5 but no one currently has it (or at least no one knows where they are, maybe they're controlling the X demons still?). This rank 5 is the demon king/queen and can control the rules of hell (though it's unspecified if this means magically or just by basic laws to be created), so it's likely by this prophecy that was mentioned that Yuki is supposed to be the next rank 5, considering the fact she can command X demons and everything changed when she came down to hell. Also makes sense since Lilith seems to see her as a threat as well as the X demons immediately flocked to Yuki and around her house the day she arrived.
