Hey, hold the phone. I know a REAL virtue signaler. My own mother.
She literally tells people that after 9/11, she walked up to a Muslim lady and said "I'M NOT AFRAID OF YOU IN MY COUNTRY". This didn't actually happen, she just tells people this for some reason.
Now THAT'S so called "virtue signaling" LOL

To be fair, virtue signalling DOES exist, but that applies mostly to when celebrities do something completely out of touch, or a company spends $100,000 on a scholarship and $10,000,000 on advertising about spending that $100,000. We shouldn't let the fact the other side uses it blind us to the fact that it does exist.

As a person who used to """impersonate""" women in online games, only to recently realize I'm trans, my actual go-to excuse\reason for playing female characters exclusively was "all the free shit from weirdos (such as white knights)". It was both very believable, and in some ways true. Dudes in MMOs will just give you stuff for no reason if you're playing a female character.

You should have used the more realistic example of Diogenes, a publicly defecating guy who lived in a wheel and never really bathed who quite literally tore apart platoâs simple definition of a human (âa featherless bipedâ), by bringing in a plucked bird and shouted âbehold a manâ. The fact that he most definitely âsmelledâ didnât have an effect on the argument that platoâs terms of a man were full of shit.

A surprising number of alt right buzzwords started off as legitimate terms. "Regressive left" was coined by Maajid Nawaz to refer to people who decry every criticism of Islam as "racist." "SJW" was coined by social justice advocates to describe fellow compatriots who were just a little over zealous in their social justice advocacy. Even "political correctness" the granddaddy of them all, was originally used to describe CONSERVATIVES who were against relaxed social norms (I'm sick of all this sex on the Telly-vision!!) All these words used to have very specific meanings, but now they are just general prejoratives to use against anyone remotely opposed to your ideas.
