That backlit, slit-scan aesthete came out of the 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY movie and was just about everywhere in mass media in the Seventies and the start of the Eighties. I associate it in particular with the TV ad campaigns for Levi's jeans and Seven Up soft drinks. As said, the TV networks also used it a lot in eyecatch footage.
