I love looking at people's studios on Reddit. Some people have a table under the stairs! The big one for me at the time in terms of technology in the 90s was seeing Cubase Audio on the Falcon. That was a gamechanger. I just could not believe seeing it run 8 channels of audio. I worked in a shop selling Atari gear. Those were happy days. I didn't see many bring in their Atari STs with an original Cubase dongle that's for sure!

When I was young there was a computer shop that sold the Amiga and the Atari.
They said the Amiga was for games and the Atari was more for music.
I had the Atari ST and a Yamaha PSR keyboard and I made music on Cubase.
I use to buy computer games and this guy use to hand disks out that contained demos and music and I put my songs on and passed them back.
The disks got passed around and eventually the tunes ended up being on warez demo scene disks. They also got to be famous on the dance scene as well.
That was years ago when the scene was just starting so it was like underground as sorts. I mean Cubase looks so old then i see it on your video.
I don't remember the names of the tunes as I never expected them to be liked as much i just had fun making them and listening to the mod scene back then.
Loved watching the video.

I totally understand the sadness in you selling your 100m, I sold my system-100 (101,102,103,104+109 speakers) in a moment of temporary insanity in the early 80's. Here in Australia there wasn't as much interest in synthesizers as there was in Europe or America so it was impossible to replace locally and international trading wasn't really a thing back then as you know. Now the prices are ridiculous so I will probably never relive that experience. Actually that was the only piece of equipment I have ever sold, hence making me a complete hoarder of hardware now. So much that over the years I have had to move to larger and larger houses just to accommodate my collection. I really want to thank you for sharing your life experiences, it has been really wonderful to hear.

I read somewhere many years ago that it was Sam Tramile's son who suggested putting the MIDI ports on the ST as he was into music making at the time. I can't remember the source of the info or vouch for the accuracy though.
My first ST cost me £270 second hand in 1991. It had a single sided floppy drive and 512k of ram.
My friend who worked in the local music shop gave me a promotional copy of Stienberg 12 to run on it. I can still remember the words 'Promotional copy only. Not for resale' perminentley etched above the menu bar!

I use to work for ABC Music in Oxford. In 1993 a customer came in and asked if I would like an old synth that he was in the process of taking to the dump. I went out to his car and there was a Yamaha CS70m. I got it serviced and back to working order for less than £100 and then swapped it for a Yamaha SY35. Yes I regret that decision. Keep up the good work.
