I just love going back to my old tapes and seeing how I did things so differently. My understanding now over what it was then always determining the results of course and I look back thinking I wouldn't or in fact couldn't now do the things quite like I did back then. In that innocence there's a good and bad that forms from our developing minds not necessarily carrying over to our later selves and it can seen as you look over old work . I look back at my 92 - 97 time and I'm doing stuff with melody that flowed much easier back then but I am far more understanding of structure now but this is just part of it I guess
Very interesting hearing of your techniques back then and a very enjoyable video and story. I started way back with a Yamaha 570 and then the Technic Ax7 which had a built in basic sequencer that you couldn't do too much with but it allowed me to think in advance what I needed to write as a one take. It's the reason I also got a four track for it but the looming SY77 with it's 16 track recording meant I didn't use it a whole lot. We're pretty much spoiled these days of course but I'm glad to have been part of the process even by just a little
Love the track and that wonderfully imposing horn half way though. I can hear a younger you engaging with this brave new world of soundscape. Without passion there's nothing

This is quite a good track, how it's build up and the sounds really work well with the imagery. Best sound apart of the breaking ice actually is that pad, probably done with the orla. Sounds good, especially with what they used to call ensemble effect. The thing that's missing on that track is something very simple today: The Reverb. That's missing compeletely. The Space Echo probably would have been an option for that but a digital reverb or a plate would have been out of reach probably in early 80s. So that's another major difference to even the later 80s.

Music really goes well with the video. Does seem to me to have elements of Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre for sure. Like it!
