I am an ex catholic. I heard the gospel coming up to 10 years ago and was saved. Salvation is in the blood of Jesus! God has completely transformed my life. It's so sad to see how far the catholic church has fallen within my life time. My old catholic high school is now very woke and has a gay flag and supports gay lifestyles. It's truly heart breaking. This is a great opportunity for us Christians to witness to catholics and share the gospel with them.

This is from Bishop Robert Barron:
âIn my capacity as chairman of the USCCB Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth, I would like to respond to some of the questions and concerns that have emerged in the wake of the publication of the Vatican document, Fiducia Supplicans. The statement in no way calls for a change in the Churchâs teaching regarding marriage and sexuality. In fact, it goes to great lengths to insist that, in accord with unchanging doctrine, marriage is a union of one man and one woman in lifelong fidelity and openness to children.
âThe blessings that it allows for those in irregular relationships are not liturgical in nature and hence do not imply any approbation of such relationships. Rather, these benedictions are informal and spontaneous, designed to call upon Godâs mercy to heal, guide, and strengthen. Despite some misleading coverage in the press, the declaration does not constitute a âstepâ toward ratification of same-sex marriage nor a compromising of the Churchâs teaching regarding those in irregular relationships.â
Pastor Everhard, I really think you should acknowledge that you missed the mark on this one.

For the record, on Friday, January 19, 2024, Pope Francis AGAIN stated that he has not authorized the blessing of same-sex unions. According to the official Vatican News:
'It was "in this context of evangelisation,â Pope Francis continued, that he wanted to mention the recent declaration Fiducia Supplicans.
The purpose of the âpastoral and spontaneous blessingsâ discussed in the Declaration, the Pope stressed, is to âconcretely show the closeness of the Lord and the Church to all those who, finding themselves in different situations, ask for help to continueâsometimes to beginâa journey of faith.â
In this regard, the Pope emphasized two points.
Firstly, he said, âthese blessings, outside of any liturgical context and form, do not require moral perfection to be received.â
Secondly, he noted, âwhen a couple spontaneously approaches [a minister] and asks for them, he is not blessing the union, but simply the people who together have requested it.â
âNot the union,â the Pope stressed, âbut the persons, naturally taking into account the context, sensitivities, the places where one lives, and the most appropriate ways to do it.â'
Despite the media storm that would have us believe that Pope Francis reversed Church practice and teaching, he has done nothing of the kind.

Hallelujah pastor Everhard! I was a Roman Catholic until the current Pope was elected, when I had a crisis of faith. I have started reading Calvin, which worries my family, but more importantly, I've started studying my Bible more closely. I'm still trying to find a PCA, or other sola scriptura church near me. God bless you!

6:07 here I believe you are either being dishonest or did not read the document. It clearly states that there is a clear distinction INTERCESSORY blessings which ask God for help and AFFIRMING blessings which are used to praise/ affirm the works of God or People. In reference to blessing sinners, it is the former that is allowed NOT the latter. I donât know why you think it is acceptable to make a video on a theological subject without showing viewers the actual text in question but instead relying on fast food media narratives to represent our church. Why should liberals listen to your complaints toward them for misrepresenting scripture and Jesus in media, when you are guilty of the same thing.
The concept is not even new since in 2021- Francis made clear the Churchâs position on the difference between blessing sin vs blessing sinners
âAt the same time, the Church recalls that God Himself never ceases to bless each of His pilgrim children in this world, because for Him âwe are more important to God than all of the sins that we can commitâ[12]. But he does not and cannot bless sin: he blesses sinful man, so that he may recognize that he is part of his plan of love and allow himself to be changed by him. He in fact âtakes us as we are, but never leaves us as we areâ[13].
For the above mentioned reasons, the Church does not have, and cannot have, the power to bless unions of persons of the same sex in the sense intended above.â

Here are the relevant portions of the text released this week. Please read the full document
â27. In the catechesis cited at the beginning of this Declaration, Pope Francis proposed a description of this kind of blessing that is offered to all without requiring anything. It is worth reading these words with an open heart, for they help us grasp the pastoral meaning of blessings offered without preconditions: âIt is God who blesses. In the first pages of the Bible, there is a continual repetition of blessings. God blesses, but humans also give blessings, and soon it turns out that the blessing possesses a special power, which accompanies those who receive it throughout their lives, and disposes manâs heart to be changed by God. [âŚ] So we are more important to God than all the sins we can commitâŚ,
28. There are several occasions when people spontaneously ask for a blessing, whether on pilgrimages, at shrines, or even on the street when they meet a priest. By way of example, we can refer to the Book of Blessings, which provides several rites for blessing people, including the elderly, the sick, participants in a catechetical or prayer meeting, pilgrims, those embarking on a journey, volunteer groups and associations, and more.
31âŚ. In such cases [blessing members of irregular couples], a blessing may be imparted that not only has an ascending value but also involves the invocation of a blessing that descends from God upon those whoârecognizing themselves to be destitute and in need of his helpâdo not claim a legitimation of their own status, but who beg that all that is true, good, and humanly valid in their lives and their relationships be enriched, healed, and elevated by the presence of the Holy Spirit. These forms of blessing express a supplication that God may grant those aids that come from the impulses of his Spiritâwhat classical theology calls âactual graceââso that human relationships may mature and grow in fidelity to the Gospel, that they may be freed from their imperfections and frailties, and that they may express themselves in the ever-increasing dimension of the divine love.

Matthew, thanks for sharing the good news. However, the documents specifically stated that these blessings are not to be confused for ceremonies of a civil union, and are not even in connection with them. The blessing is for the person, not the union. It is the same as if an adulterous man was blessed, the blessing is not of the sin, but for the person..

Im not a presbyterian but the more I read the word of God I'm leaning more and towards the reformed side of things ..I started in a Pentecostal church then moved to a non denomination church but they be pulling scriptures out of context I'm starting to see that I'm looking for context preaching teaching church

I am by no means Catholic and often find the Roman Catholic tradition to be extrabiblical, but my understanding is that this document is meant for blessing individuals within same sex unions, not blessing the unions themselves. Catholics are wanting to pave the way for LGBT members to seek the grace and mercy of God while remaining traditionally conservative on their view of marriage at the same time. It appears that they want to be open to sharing with people the goodness of God while also showing them that they aren't going to justify sin. I think, however confusing this may be, us non-Catholics shouldn't be attacking strawmen whilst assuming one's motive. That hurts our otherwise reasonable defenses against Catholicism that are fair and true.
