Pastor Matt, I have and have had plenty of anonymous accounts and you didnāt hurt my feelings at all. Contrary to most, I donāt like or dislike someone only because they 100% agree with my opinions. In fact, I am not even reformed, but I still watch all your videos because I respect you as a person and like your content in general. So donāt be discouraged, itās not a problem with you, itās a problem with them.

I usually like Matt's takes. I think he is trying to be reasonable here but as a pastor he doesn't quit understand the persecution that occurs to people working in a secular field. The majority of people don't get punished true. Mostly its getting banned or shadow banned on socials. But that gives the illusion that christian perspectives are the minority but also prevents defense of thoose being persecuted. The real risk is when an activist decides to "make an example of you". Then all of a sudden activists start calling not only your companies HR but your clients HR and marketing companies. So owning a business isn't security. For example maybe you have a ladder business, and 80% of your business is supporting a big corporation like xfinity. (80/20 rule is a real thing) One call to their Marketing department can result in them severing that partnership and bankrupting your family. This example is based off a true story.

Thank you for clarifying your position a bit more, but I still have questions. I don't think Martin Luther or Calvin were cowardly when they went under pseudonyms and likewise the Founding Father's. Instead, I believe their anonymity was a shrewd calculation in order to spread truth.
If I can think of a popular anon-account that did gain a lot of influence, I would point to that catturd account (not trying to say anything about his ideas). He later revealed himself, but the popularity of the anonymity allowed him to do so.
While I agree there may be those who just don't want accountability at all, I think there is legitimacy in the concern over being canceled. I believe your point is true, that they should consider ways to deal with that, but they already have in being anonymous; anonymity is how they are protecting themselves. I don't see how this is a different prudent strategy from that of David feigning madness in Gath.
I appreciate your video and would love any kind of interaction with my comment, if you have the time. And I have the luxury of not needing to be anonymous, so I have a greater chance to be heard here ;) Christ bless!

For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, āLet the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.ā

I was in a chat yesterday. A chatter said it is hard to be a self directed learner, thus hard to have the courage of your own convictions. People want external validation. Yes, that is the point. Nurture your discernment so you can define the value of opinions, your own and others. We must think and define or preferences for what we trust.

Pretty good take Pastor Matt. However, some of us do take and have taken steps for financial independence but still have a responsibility to provide for our wives and children. In negative world, there is a time and place for anon accounts and doesnāt necessarily indicate a lack of courage. Sometimes, the time is not right to get fired. Other times, it is right and good to take the cancelling on the chin and rejoice in Godās providence.

I would take it a step further and say that not only are online accounts with real names and profiles more effective at spreading ideas than anonymous ones, unless you have thousands or millions of followers you are much more effective at influencing people that you know personally in real life than anyone online. And even then, people that post religious or political ideas to influence are usually followed most by people who already agree, and we're more likely to have interactions with people who disagree in real life.

There are many strong points here. The one about accountability is very wise. But I strongly disagree on this:
12:14
"Well, you know, you don't have to be afraid of doxing if you are who you are."
Yes, you do. There are evil and/or genuinely mentally disturbed people out there who are willing to stalk you in real life. Or worse yet, your family, including your children. This is a very valid fear.
12:27
Not only that but for some of you if people actually found out who you were, maybe part of you fears they would find out that you really don't have a lot
going on for yourself and not a lot to lose."
WOW.
"I don't mean to insult anybody."
With genuine respect, Pastor Matt, you absolutely did.
13:00
"If you are a person who works at, maybe you own your own business. Maybe you're a plumber. Maybe you have your own landscaping business. Well, I think that person probably has less to lose than somebody who could reasonably lose their job for voicing the opinions that they hold."
They have even more to lose! All it takes is some creep bringing negative attention to your job or your company and you can lose your job or lose many customers! (Even if what you said was entirely correct and not even stated in a nasty way. Bosses and clients don't want that kind of negative attention.)
"Maybe you probably should think about setting yourself up a little differently so that you have more financial security and stability."
WOW.
"My goodness, we certainly need plumbers in this country. We certainly need electricians in this in this country. We certainly need welders in this country. Maybe this is a cue then to go out and to try to start some kind of business for yourself that actually does contribute to society."
WOW.
As long as you're not doing something illegal/unethical/immoral, all work does contribute to society.
I keep saying "Wow", but, WOW.
I am still living in my parents' basement. And yes, I even have the cliche Star Wars poster/t-shirts. And X-Files posters as well. I work barely part time and haven't been able to find a full time job in years. I spent 7 years helping my elderly father take care of my dementia ridden mother, until she died last year and he finally collapsed and was hospitalized several times from the stress. Then I had to take care of our family dog (my mother's beloved dog) when she suddenly declined in health and had to be put down, all within a matter of months after my mother died. I didn't want my father having to deal with a dying dog after spending 7 years taking care of his dying wife. Now I'm still here because he's having health issues. I'm sorry I don't have a lot going for me and am uninteresting. I don't want things to be this way. But that's what God has for me right now. No amount of praying and begging for it to change has made it change. I can't fight Him. I'm doing the best I can. So are most people. I hope you can understand that.

Pastor Matt - I am in IT for over 40 years. You are so right. If they want to find out about you, they can - they already know who you are. I appreciate your boldness and encouragement to the church. Be encouraged yourself. Thanks for putting yourself out there. "If you deny me before men, I will deny you", to paraphrase the Lord. And no, I am not accusing anyone individual of this but if you are doing this, you know who you are. Grateful for you Matt.
