The biggest issue, for me, is the Locust in general. The whole idea of the Locust is that they mirror the COG to the most extreme with very specific ranks and positions. You would never see a Kantus Monk fighting on the front line or see Theron Guards outside from paramount positions of power. I get the random replayability outlook but it just goes against the game's core values of militaristic societies. The game was fun but dear god was it a mess, especially the multiplayer microtransactions. You think Dead Space 3 was bad, Gears of War Judgment was way worse.

After watching all of this, my biggest issue is at the end. Karn survives a massive DIRECT missile strike and comes out looking untouched. Then soaks up some bullets and dies? The least they could’ve done was show him try to activate a shield or dig down to survive leaving us unsure if he lived until the boss fight. Or/and a mutated, distorted, damaged Karn pops up in the boss fight looking like a badass who took a direct missile strike and is still standing.

Gear of War 3 was one of the greatest games of all time. GoW Judgment could do only two things: repeat the same type of gameplay and story that made the first three games bangers or try to push the saga forward. They chose too little of both. My very first gripe is how they change the button layout. It felt unfamiliar for the wrong reason. Reprogramming myself to use the new layout took me out of the game until I learned how to switch to classic mode. Also, it was too many waves of enemies. It felt like a chore sometimes.

I played through the entire campaign at a friend's house back when this was released. Enjoyed the campaigna bit, but I agree that Aftermathwas much better, despitebeing much shorter. Also, I always thought Paduk was one of the best things to come from this game, and it was cool to see him come back in 5

Judgement having the Lancer (which is actually the Lancer Mk2) and the version of the Hammerburst which is the Hammerburst 2 and can be identified by its semi auto/full auto firing and visual appearance which are VERY anachronistic to the timeline due to the Lancer we know coming to be a decent time AFTER emergence day and was made by Adam Fenix with help from Marcus

Honestly, man, this was the part of the game where I went from feeling some type of way about Loomis to absolutely loving the madman of a character he is. Man's truly gave no fucks about safety or fighting the ongoing fight. He was so hellbent on holding Kilo Squad accountable for what the books would call insubordination that he was very much so willing to get everyone else clipped for it.
Add in the personal comedy touch you put in for the edits, you got a sub in me lmao

For me, Judgment has the one of the best PVP experiences in gaming, and that is Overrun. While sounding like just a simple mix of Beast and Horde mode together on paper, it is so much more in depth than that, with a lot of tactical game play that you can hardly find anywhere else. One player on the locust side can spawn as a Ticker, while the other spawns as a Grenadier. The Grenadier player can immediately throw a grenade at the Ticker player, who then eats the grenade. Then, they move forward, with the Grenadier providing cover fire while the Ticker eats away at the barricade. Alternatively, the Grenadier can use the melee attack to kick the Ticker over the barricade, who then explodes while also dropping the grenade it ate earlier for a secondary detonation. If the makers of Gear of War had ever expanded on this, they could have made one of the best PVP experiences even better, but sadly they decided to scrap it all because the story and other gameplay wasnt as good as previous titles. Some of my best memories of Gear of War was during private games of Overrun with friends, and I still miss some of those to this day.

With all the problems it has, I did enjoy Judgement. Got all the Onyx stars in insane with declassified missions even if it made kid me cry of frustration. And I'm glad you are a fellow Retro Lancer Enjoyer. Also I think the Breechshot was a pretty cool rewarding weapon for pulling those well place shots.

Judgment was like the middle child, it was understood, and hate for a lack of reasons, even if it sucked, it still was hella fun
