Everybody's complaining about The Weeknd changing his sound, didn't he warn us though? Listen to Rolling Stone... "I'll be different. I think I'll be different. I hope I'm not different and I hope you'll still listen." Yes it's sad we won't get this type of sound anymore but he had to switch things up. A lot of people aren't like us, they didn't care for this Weeknd. Now he's living it up and getting the recognition he deserved years ago. This music is still here to repeat whenever, just continue to love and support him. xo

I cannot describe how much I love the TheWeeknd's music. He is the only person I listen to so religiously. I used to be someone who always wanted to live alone. What do normal people do when they get this sad? They reach out to friends and family. I listened to TheWeeknd's pain. Knowing that somebody has felt the same about themselves all their life makes feeling lonely and depressed less painful. Thank you so much for the pain and pleasure. X'Ø for life.

Abel: Me and Lana have been friends for a long time. I’ve inspired her, she’s inspired me. I feel like we’ve always been talking to each other through our music. She is the girl in my music, and I am the guy in her music. It’s just this ghostly collaboration that feels the most natural on the whole album. Even the whole monologue intro on “Lonely Star” from Thursday—I just realized now that that’s Lana. That’s Lana’s voice. [laughs] I mean, it’s my voice pitched up, but it’s her, it’s who she is. She was definitely the first feature that I wanted to bring on this album. <3

this song is literal perfection, can't explain how underrated it is for me, from the instrumental to the vocals and even the addition of the high pitched voice, it's a gem that I can always listen to. one of my favourites fs, it’s just something else.
hey there lonely girl / lonely star.✨xotwod ❤💫

The Weeknd was born Abel Tesfaye on February 16, 1990 in Scarborough, Ontario. He is of Ethiopian descent. He grew up listening to a variety of music genres, including soul, quiet storm, hip hop, funk, indie rock, and post-punk.Since Tesfaye's father was never around when he was growing up, and his mother was constantly working, his grandmother took care of him most of his young life. Because of this, Abel speaks fluent Amharic; it was the first language he learned.
Tesfaye says he adopted the stage name, "The Weeknd," after dropping out of high school at the age of 17 and, along with a fellow crew-member, "left one weekend and never came home." The spelling was modified to avoid copyright issues with a Canadian band already named "The Weekend".
